Brian Kelly addressed the absence of freshman OT Lance Heard. "He is looking at his role at #LSU and evaluating it ... We will pick up the conversations with him and his family after the bowl game."

Guess this means he’s probably heading towards a portal. Hopefully we can retain him.

Lmao, mad he didn’t start over Campbell, who didn’t give up a sack all year.

Good luck at Ole Miss

Kids just want handouts these days. They do not want to work for anything.

He can’t play a game and think about it before and afterwards?

It’s pretty simple. If LSU meets his asking price, he will be back. If they don’t, he won’t.

Renegotiating his NIL. If these kids want to get paid like adults, they should be held accountable like adults. Make them sign a contract.

Or you can work for everything, make money in real time, and set yourself up for larger, future earnings.

2 of the 3 actually involve playing. NIL is just the low hanging fruit for dummies.

Hurting the team by holding out a game to leverage a payout. Sounds like a quality guy you want on a team.

I could be wrong, but I would think he could beat out Frazier or Dellinger and start at guard next season.

You are just making a point right? The Bama game and the Florida State game?

Eh, this critique seems misplaced here.

Heard came here with the explicit intention to compete with Will Campbell (a future top 10 pick) and to win that battle. That doesn’t scream looking for a handout to me.

He didn’t win that battle, and he now knows he won’t be able to usurp one of the best Olineman in the nation. He wants to play real game reps so he can keep getting better and eventually become a pro. Can’t blame the kid if he wants to pursue those reps. He believed in himself, and he chose to come in and compete with an absolute stud. But I suspect he’s since realized that he’s just simply not as good as the guy in front of him. Can’t really blame him for looking for other opportunities once that realization became unavoidable.

Obviously I still hope we retain him and he becomes a stud after Campbell graduates. But if not, I can’t really hold it against him. This one doesn’t feel like NIL chasing to me.

And on cue Will Campbell is out today with the flu. Would have been a nice opportunity for Lance to step in and start if Will not able to get healthy in time.

I'm sure his handlers want him making more money so that they get a larger cut.

So, underclass players can now opt out of games as a negotiating ploy.

Dude isn’t at LT only because the guy that’s there may very well be a top 5 pick.

Get experience at the other side and move in after next year, bro.
