If Heard leaves LSU, then other schools will come after LSU top prospects even harder with the knowledge that LSU won't pay up. what's to stop ol piss from coming after womack in the spring if he is not starting after spring practice. what about sampsom, someone will want him really bad. this is not an age where you can have 5 star guys sit on the bench for 2 years. Bk wants you to earn NIL after coming to LSU. how can you earn it if you are on the bench? The kids want immediate playing time, the parents want immediate money.
You want to get in a bidding war with every team for every guy we have? That's not sustainable. It is what it is.

Campbell should be laser focused on the NFL draft and getting into the top half of the first round. he and jones should not give a frick about NIL at this point. in the NFL rookies often make more than starters that are still under there first contract. The real issue is how bad does LSU want Heard. The issue is does LSU believe Heard is a elite talent at the college level at an elite postion - LT. If so, you just can't let a top half of the first round left tackle walk away. if LSU believes he is a lesser talent then let him walk.

Paying college players isn’t the problem. The problem is no commitment/consequences. Contracts would solve the problem. NIL in its current form is absurd. Totally one sided with the player. It’s like paying someone to perform job and halfway through the neighbor down the street offers double the amount for the same job if the person leaves the current job starts his job immediately.

People in his ear got him to pull the trigger waaaaay too early.
With the other OL he would be playing with as a group he would've been showcased. A good group makes all look even better.

While Campbell did get whipped. It wasn’t a sack. Was called an incomplete pass. As far as I can tell by reading the play by play in the 2nd quarter. I could be wrong. But video appears to be 2nd quarter. Verse didn’t have a sack registered in 2nd.
