Steele was not lacking for talent at Clemson

Compared to LSU's defensive talent this year he was. That was the poster's point - not that Clemson had nothing.

The thing people miss is that when you give up seventy something points that's not due to defensive strategy problems; it's due to a spiritual collapse on the team. And the team's attitude is the head coach's responsibility. If I was a Clemson fan the day after I'd be upset at the head coach not the DC.

Occam's Razor is the principle that the simplest explanation is the most likely, not that if such and such is true there must be a problem somewhere.

In the 8-5 season example there are a number of possible explanations that are very simple:

- The QB sucked
- The head coach sucked
- Third and Chavis

Occam's Razor is useful in eliminating possibilities like...there was a widespread conspiracy among SEC referees, or all of the SEC coaches were in a game-rigging conspiracy to shake down Vegas. It does nothing to differentiate among the simple possibilities listed above. However, kudos for bringing Occam's Razor to the discussion.

Lest we forget, lil Nicky got blown out by Utah in the Sugar Bowl.

That's because Kevin Steele was his Associate Head Coach/Head Defensive Coach-Inside Linebackers!!!

We should be excellent as long as we don't switch to a base 3-4. Our defensive linemen have always been playmakers and coach O is giving them more tools to make plays. In a 3-4, the linemen are mainly immoble set-up guys for the linebackers.

Let's just hope he doesn't have a psychotic break and forget which team he is coaching, again.

he's a game day trainwreck...doesn't eat on game days and has required IVs on more than a few occasions, passed out on the sidelines twice, and the rumors of him calling plays from his Panther days during the Orange Bowl catastrofrick.

my mom and sis went to Baylor...i've watched him a long, long time.

i sincerely hope i'm wrong about everything i've seen from him over the years.

I agree. I think the D will be much improved this year

Didn't we have the number 1 defense in the SEC??? All we need to improve on is third down and stop giving up 5+ on the runs.

Big Bird could coach this defense with all this talent this year...

If anyone can calm him down it's Les. Also, having O on staff is huge for gameday preparations. The guy has done it on every level.

I agree with all of you guys. Jamal Adams is a PLAYER.
He will be an all american before he leaves. This kid is special.

Watch out for Ed Paris. He will be the biggest surprise on "D" this year. He will be the second CB after White.

8-4, maybe 9-3, don't matter about the D!
