He's not throwing game 1 of a regional. So he could have started tomorrow and still get 7 days rest between starts. What is PM's reason for pitching him now on short rest and getting him 8 days instead of 7?

ETA: This has nothing to do with the results of the 1st inning.

CPM will probably pitch his starters about 2-3 innings. Then pull them.

well he's not throwing Lange on short days rest, and wasn't Bain also on a short rest?

We need to play from behind more.

Keeps the sense of urgency up.

Those two are not the only options.

If they throw 30 pitches an inning yeah. But I think he was looking to get them about 80 pitches each.

if he didn't care about winning the tournament he would have started Godfrey or Reynolds

Obviously from the past he cares about winning the tournament so there's your answer

Are you claiming he's putting the SECT ahead of the NCAAT?

I'm claiming he is cares about the goals every team in the SEC has...

win the regular season title
win the tournament title
win the regional
win the super regional
win the national championship.

One series/event at a time.

There are goals and there are goals. Sure, you want to win every game. But you don't try to win one at the expense of a more important game. These games mean zero for LSU in terms of the NCAAT. I'd rather not have rushed him like this.

Poche will be OK -- he is our ace.

I think he might be fine. But he isn't our "ace".

Yeah

Just trying to understand the purpose I guess. Corbin obviously too a different approach.

Thank God he didn't leave Poche in for 80 pitches. We'd be down by 20 runs!

That's a good question actually.

Game 1: Reynolds
Game 2: Lange
Game 3: Poche
Game 4: Bain (if necessary)

This would be my guess, at least in terms of when Lange and Poche will throw.

And that's gotta be #1 on sportscenter.
