I wouldn't start him game 1. I'd keep the rotation the same. Throw Reynolds. Had that in here earlier. It'll likely be the SWAC champion.

Yeah if we get Texas Southern. But what if we get a 4 seed like last year. Say we get the Sun Belt champ.

PM said Poche might start Sunday if LSU is still in Hoover. If so that would indicate a change in the rotation going forward. I see Reynolds or Godfrey against the 4th seed in the regional.

Pitching our Friday night starter needlessly on 5 days rest the week before the start of the real post season doesn't seem just a little risky to you idiots when we already have a top 8 seed locked up? Was it not apparent that he could use a full week?

I think Poche was probably on a low pitch count tonight. His first inning changed all of that clearly, but I bet he would not gone anymore than 6 innings on an ideal outing.
I suspect PM will throw Jared to help him the right the ship if we reach Sunday this week since he was going to be the Sunday guy in the regional anyway.

He'll likely start Sunday if we make it. Not sure if that was ever the original plan though. I was thinking the same as you. PM planned for him to go 5. 70 pitches. Get another win. Take a seat. But he saw he just didn't have it so no reason to put him back out there. I'm glad he did that. Good decision. I'm even okay with Godfrey out first even though it didn't work out. He's your hardest thrower out of the pen and was a huge adjustment to make for hitters after Poche.

Mainieri has to get his 3 starters some work. Can't pitch "off" in game 1 and risk playing only 2 or 3 games and one of your starters doesn't get his work in.

Lange has rested a few times this year and the rest has paid off. I would have no problem with him getting his work done in a pen rather than on the field to get ready for the post season. Our bullpen could probably use the rest too.
