After Bama beat us in the championship game Bama started loading up on both sides of the line while we just loaded up on wrs and cornerbacks. That is where Bama started to dominate us from that point on and coach O is trying to reload on those positions. We are doing better on the dline but oline depth is not there yet. He better get it right on next year’s class.
Orgeron has been beaten head to head in recruiting in the trenches multiple years in a row though. He's landed a verbal from Roy so that's improvement and still has a battle for Guillory this year. He missed on guys like Marvin Wilson, P.Mathis, I.Buggs, Sopsher, and back filled those classes with a bunch of guys who've not panned out as even starters yet or have left the program.
So even if Orgeron knows what the problem is, I wouldn't say he's been able to address it yet. Look at OL targets for 2020. We are averaging 1 starting level player each recruiting class on the OL. Long way to go to improve the trenches in recruiting and his approach to signing volume in 2018 backfired

Yes, but also did you notice that they go to commercial with 2:40 left and come back at 1:07 after V. Alexander penalty. Pretty convenient to skip that 1:30 most critical of game time on the broadcast.
That penalty was bullshite. I definitely think (as much as we struggled running the ball) that we score if that penalty isn't called.

2 missed FG. Les goes on 4th down and doesn’t get it (with Ware in the wildcat.) Mett playing his arse off and we run the ball three times with 2 min. left instead of trying to score a Td and finish it. Just an absolute waste of Mett, Landry, OBJ
Hard to argue this as well.

I’m going to start by saying the qb situation under miles was completely his fault, but if you look at the qb’s he had and the amount of winning he did it is pretty amazing. Shows how well he could recruit all other positions but the most important one.
I absolutely get what you're saying, but ALL of those cats were rated highly, top 100 or top 200 guys. Theoretically, high major QBs. Of course rankings can be wrong, but not that many times. Plenty of teams had QBs not ranked nearly as high as ours and got good production out of them. There is (or was) something systematically wrong with our development.

The fact that we played that 2014 game with Anthony Jennings at QB and a bunch of true freshman WRs is just astounding to me that game was even competitive. That was one of the worst LSU teams offensively I've ever seen.

I almost hit les with my car outside of tj’s on the Friday before the 2012 game. After the game my dad said I should hit him.

What ever happened to LSU landing those big, strong, corn fed boys from north Louisiana?
It seems we are just looking at Mississippi, New Orleans area, or Texas for linemen....
I don’t get it.....

If you listen to Charlie and Ott, they did an interview with skip and he said point-blank. Saban left a team so talented anyone was going to win and Miles was not going anywhere soon because he had young kids.
I get his line of thinking, but that's not what to look for when hiring a football coach at LSU.
Thus whole thread is full of idiocy and folks regurgitating the same tired narrative.
Go look at some teams that left the cupboard absolutely stocked (Miami, USC, Texas, Notre Dame), and then never accomplished half of what les did. His NC was in year 3. If O wins the NC this year are you giving the sole credit to Les?

Not so fast. I think Orgeron has actually learned from his experience while Les couldn't (or wouldn't) be taught any new tricks.
Orgeron's recruiting is closing the talent gap with Bama. He's changing the program in may ways: analysts etc. He knows we have to get better on the LOS but more importantly, he realizes that you can't play conservatively against Bama (or any other teams
I'm not convinced that O doesn't just throws shite against the wall to what sticks.
And his 3 games against Bama were EVERY BIT as conservative as any les miles game plan.
Surely yall don't believe this stuff you type?

had to over recruit some positions and take chances with other positions because Miles was horrible with roster management
What positions were in "horrible" shape the day Les was fired? Facts please.

In Miles' last game vs Bama, I understand we lost the game, but we scored more against Bama in just that one game than Orgeron has in 3 years vs Bama. That concerns me. (That is not to misunderstood that I don't support O or dislike him or anything of the sort. It's just looking at the resutls of our past games)
I want to see him beat Bama, I do. This will be his best opportuinty to do it. This team is absolutely loaded. I want him to put an end to us being Bama's doormat.

from Aranda more kickers than Lb on Scholly
Biggest myth on TD.
The quote was specifically talking about 'inside' LBs...which at the time, we ran a 4-3. Meaning we needed 1 inside LB on the field at a time. Aranda was moving to a 3-4 and needed more, which was his point.
We had 3 MLBs on scholly at that tine, and 4 kickers. That's not out of the ordinary in any way
Y'all make it sound like we had 3 TOTAL LBs

Remember that awkward stat Les had with 4th quarter comebacks, yeah that wasn’t because he was good in the 4th, it was because he undercoached and the team underperformed with the Les Miles Offense for 3 quarter’s and then talent and desperation had to bail him out.

Wasn’t Anthony Jennings the Qb too?

And tell me, exactly how many of those were there in the 150 games or so Miles was HC?

It’s amazing what people can believe they see in a game compared to what actually happened.
While this is often true, it's also true that the Miles' sideline could be pretty undisciplined. An occasional faux pas can be expected but the list of Miles brain farts is undeniable.
I sometimes watch youtube videos of old games and the play calling was just abysmal sometimes. It's brutal to watch. Thank goodness he had fake FG at his disposal.
The slide after the '11 season was evident. Times and concepts change and great leaders learn to adapt and move forward. Evolve or perish.
