This is either a terrible misquote or a terrible misspeak.

quote:

LSU men's basketball coach Trent Johnson doesn't mince words. The third-year coach didn't hold back Wednesday night after Tennessee trampled his injury-riddled team, 75-53, for the Tigers' third-consecutive blowout loss. "Nobody likes to admit this more than me, but Kentucky, Ole Miss and this team — they're better than we are," Johnson said in his postgame radio interview. "We need to deal with that and move forward."

Surely, he doesn't like admitting this?

They are, but he shouldn't like admitting this. I'm hoping this is simple misspeak and bad quote selection from the Reveille.

From your little brother..........they aren't as good as those teams and TJ is identifying that and hopefully working to improve in order to compete.

What Johnson needs to realize is YES those teams are better but the FACT of the matter is LSU is not even competitive at this point.

In year 3, despite everything we've seen and been told I at least expected the team to be competitive and possibly NIT bound.

This team is light years away from being competitive.

What were preseason practices like that half the team was injured. Was it that grueling. If your limited to begin with he should have backed off and made sure LSU was at least healthy.

Poor quoting by the amateurs.

The above is from Tigerbait.

3 years into the program and we hear this stuff.

Wow - but it is going in the right direction. Give him another year and see if there is a difference.

I listened to the postgame show and he really did say, "Nobody likes to admit this more than me." Sounded odd when I heard it too.

Maybe he meant to say "nobody wants to admit this," and he could have left off the "more than me." Strange....

I imagine the Reveille quoted verbatim while Tigerbait cleaned it up -- I don't see why someone would have used the uglier version otherwise.
