they are. It's like being a politician or a customer service representative for an airline.
People will hate you for absolutely no reason.

Maybe because they are LSU fans and he hosts a daily LSU centric sports talk show? Just guessing here.

I'm weary of any turnover right now. The stability we have in the football department is almost unheard of in today's game, and it's about to pay big dividends over the next few years.

There hasn't been an AD in my lifetime (Dean, Bertman and Alleva) that wasn't roundly and routinely hated, regardless of their perceived successes or failures. Skip is the one that gets ripped on the least and it's 100% because of his legacy as a coach.

Dan R may be fine, but please do some homework on him..from AJC..
2011, just before GT was hit with MAJOR penalties in football and basketball, and had to vacate an ACC Championship
Scratch Georgia Tech’s Dan Radakovich from Tennessee’s list for a new athletic director.
Georgia Tech’s recent NCAA troubles and the NCAA’s assertion that Georgia Tech officials attempted to “manipulate the information surrounding potential violations” makes Radakovich untouchable for a school that appeared before the Committee on Infractions just last month for major violations in both football and men’s basketball.
Tennessee should find out sometime next month what sanctions it will face for violations that occurred on the watch of former athletic director Mike Hamilton, who stepped down in June.
In the meantime, Tennessee is left to pick up the pieces now that Radakovich is out.
What’s most troublesome for Tennessee supporters is that the university forked out six figures to the Parker Executive Search firm to help identify candidates, gather information … and conduct background checks.
If that’s the case, how does a guy like Radakovich emerge as the front-runner when his own shop is about to get hit with NCAA penalties

Yep, or maybe an internal promotion for someone like Herb Vincent.
Herb just took a job with the SEC. I don't know if he would be interested in coming right back. It might be a timing thing with him.
Although I think he probably would come back if offered

Fact.
oh, some more "insiders," I have a clue as to what he does, and although he's kind of a know it all, he's plateaued here, IMO

Probably has a lot to do with it. He deserves credit for hiring Les, for sure. The Cox Center and the new practice facility were the brain child of Saban, though.
People forget that Bertman was the one that really got the ball rolling on making the Department a money making machine, which is what people seem to hate about Alleva. Or at least they hate the things that it takes (higher ticket prices, TAF donations, pay to park, etc.) to make the department into the juggernaut that it has become.

ahh, no... Dinardo had both in motion and indoor football facility was built before Saban came, Cox Center was over 50% funded before Saban, although he did help improve it for sure

Alleva has done a good job for LSU and the fact that this isn't the first time another major school has tried to poach him should tell everyone a lot about how he's viewed around the country

I'm not talking just about the indoor facility, but the complete reworking of the practice fields and the football operations facility.
And directly from the Cox Center website:
quote:
In the fall of 2000, LSU's head football coach Nick Saban had a vision. His idea was to create an academic center that would house the best academic support program, state-of-the-art technology and unique blend of study environments to create leaders on and off the field. Coach Saban looked to Richard Manship, longtime Tiger football booster and CEO of Capital City Press and WBRZ-TV, to head the fundraising for the massive project.
quote:
Just two years after its initial concept, the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes was opened on November 15, 2002 with a grand opening gala!

that's a fact, however, some of the things you mention aren't necessary, as the TAF has sort of turned into the mafia, if you want what they've got, you are going to pay, their price, keep a winning product(always in the nc hunt,) out there, and you don't need to extort Joe six pack and his family, who's going to come no matter what, until you price them out, that's probably a big factor in why the stadium empties out so quickly
ETA: not so sure Skip would have bit on the head fakes by Miles agent either, that money has to come from somewhere

Yea....that Duke lacrosse case is a real highlight on his resume.
Good riddance if he goes.....maybe his replacement will do something to improve the in-game experience in Tiger Stadium for the paying customers.

Won't lose sleep. Need someone to assertively challenge the Saban machine.
Posted on 6/19/14 at 5:18 pm to Duckie
They should have gotten the death penalty. If they didn't then SMU should have gotten like 18 national championships.
Good job with pedophilia, Penn State. Good job. What an evil and corrupt program.

Pretty sure the cell signal project will be complete for this season

This. other than filtering out "The good ole boys", he was a horrible AD.
I really hope Joe stays. Contrary to what the irrational portion of our base believes, he has done a fine job in Baton Rouge. If he leaves, there's no denying he has left the program in excellent shape.
our first flight better be out to Louisville, assuming he takes the offer. That is a lot of money Penn State is throwing around
And at you Alleva haters wanting Radakovich. what in the ever living hell has he accomplished as AD?
