No I didn't. I pointed out that big donors have a say in who is hired and said you failed to realize that being the AD requires keeping them happy. I don't believe it's just donors who make hires; I believe their opinions are heavily weighted.

This was already proven last November when it took politicians involvement to prevent said donors from forcing Miles out.

LSU athletics has given me way more near-death experiences than I need. Last November was just the latest one and I could certainly have done without it.

Sure you're not. But issues like this 'statement' and shutting down the Bayou superfest because 'he doesnt like country music' are not the reasons other people want him fired.

Your hatred for a college AD is unhealthy.

Sometimes it's Alleva's job to give them what they need instead of what they want. Some of them are still convinced Saban is gonna walk back through that door. Have you seen the state a blue blood like Texas is in? That was caused by an administration that let boosters run the show.

Damn, but what a CYA interview.

Last November might have been an educational experience for everyone involved, but you have to be partially brain-dead to think that was good for LSU football to be experiencing at time in the season.

Like Miles or not, but he deserved better treatment than the BS that came out!

Oh I agree 100%. The last thing we need is big donors calling all the shots. Which is exactly why Alleva should have put a frickin' lid on this thing as soon as he had the chance. Instead he let it drag out and LSU was dragged through the mud. Now he's saying it was a good experience for him.

Come on.

This. They may not be the ones who draw up the contract and sign it for approval, but you better believe they will be more influential than anyone in the hiring of a coach. That said, at this time for LSU football, there's probably a short list of potential coaches that they would all agree on, and Alleva knows this.

If we have even a modicum of success this season it will be all about how Joe saved the program by putting the fear into Miles. The son of a bitch is already starting to set the narrative. It's sickening.

No question that IF Les is ever going to open the offense up and throw it, the time is now after the November fiasco.

lsu athletic side has given lsu academic side 50 million dollars from 2005-2015. if lsu athletic had never done that, lsu athletic would have had the 50 million to get a new coach in the checking account waiting to write checks.

I can't believe I'm defending the guy, and I see your point that this is why he gets paid the big bucks, but I do think he learned from this and I'll take that over stubbornly continuing down the path he was taking.

No one will ever be able to convince me that Sexton didn't try to bend LSU over the barrel once Miles was all but fired, and that's what blew up the deal. F King certainly knew what was going on for weeks, but the wednesday before the aTm game he suddenly objects. Why? I can't say it for a fact but this is the same Sexton who bragged years later about how Saban arrived at LSU. Sexton and LSU had agreed on a ballpark number it would take for Saban to leave MSU. Once neither side could turn back, he said he threw out a ridiculously higher number, ($1.2M, on par with Bobby Bowden at the time) which he assumed LSU would balk at. Emmert said yes. The only way Jimbo was coming here was for a ridiculous sum of money, he had no other incentive to besides some LSU fans sketchy memories that he loved TJ ribs or some shite. The PR shitstorm of ousting an 80% winning coach with a 15 million dollar buyout, and then making his replacement the highest paid coach in college football, in the midst of a budget crisis, was too much.

I typed all that out just to say, everyone on the admin and booster side kinda learned that if you dump your gf who is a solid 7, you can't be mad if a 9 treats you like shite. In this case it wasn't even a 9, it was another 7 who just happens to be better with QBs but still hasn't won consistently at a high level in an easier conference. The 10 over in Tuscaloosa wasn't leaving, and everything else around was a 4 with potential. I think that was enough for the boosters and admins to say, ok, we may need to move on eventually but Miles the best we can do right now, so we might as well get out of his way until he proves we could do better.

I (nobody else) has said he needs to be fired because "he doesn't like country music" or shutting down the BCSF. What I (and others) have said is that Joe has lied to us many times (Les Miles incident, banning visiting bands, BCSF, etc.). This is a character issue and says alot about what kind of person he is. Bottom line....he must go.

he's right. its funny how the fans have seen so much good from it and continue to shite on Alleva where he was just the guy bringing in Jimbo and everyone would have hailed him but he got shite on by the uppers.

Lol, he got shite on because he is a lying sack of shite. He sabotaged the fricking program, you and Alleva can get the frick out.
