Alleva won't be in control of the hiring of a new head football coach, and he wasn't last November.

I believe this. I think everything that went on was circumventing the normal process.

Les had a successful offseason despite Alleva. Joe didn't help anything and should get 0 credit.

It's like he doesn't understand that part of being the AD is to always keep your big donors happy.

He apparently doesn't.

My story has been backed up over and over even by the horse's mouth aka Joe alleva.

Les. I'm glad Les is here. It's been a phenomenal off season. Alleva can frick a goat and so can anyone else that blindly supports someone just because they work for LSU.

Just so we're clear about where I stand, I'm on board with this. That said, I wouldn't have been pissed had Jimbo been brought in.

I was part of the "only fire Miles if it's Herman or Fisher" crowd. Anyone other than that and I'd rather Les' contract play out and allow him to coach his guys, especially the 2014 class.

I didn't take the original statement as alleva actually taking credit. I took it to mean the program as a whole, which is true.

You're the one who misunderstands this. "Keeping donors happy" cannot be the same thing as "giving donors hiring power." You're describing a situation that can do nothing but collapse.

No, no. I understand that.

I also understand his sentiment about it being good for him, as he likely learned a lot in that process.

My issue is that Les and the football program took a beating from the media while he got his "thrown to the wolves" learning experience while making 14k a month.

It's just frustrating. He should just say "I think it was a good thing for Les and the program, but if I could go back, I'd handle things a little differently."

That wouldn't be received all that well either, but at least he'd be owning his obvious mistakes.

That would require Alleva to admit he had something to do with what was going on. He has constantly (lied) said he was not involved in the leaks to the media. He is a snake.

I'm not supporting the a-hole. I'm simply saying it looks like to me that these coaches turned it up a few notches and they know they have a strong team but aren't saying a damn thing. I think Alleva must see it and know what we have about to hit the field also and if that's what it took to get the freakn LSU storm brewing I'm going to support it now moving forward LSU can get rid of this clown after we win a championship. But if everyone would have been doing their jobs we could, should, would isn't going to move anything forward. I wanna see a positive move forward from this shite show and if that happens well that the point anyway no matter how it happened. Can't change it so embrace it, then make the changes really needed if there are any at that time.

if you don't understand that big donors have say in who is and isn't hired, idk what to tell you. They undoubtedly do.

Let me ask you this, since you are so hell bound on keeping your P&G glasses on this afternoon: what do you think Alleva did right in this situation?

Not what you said. You said "they'll be hiring the next coach."

They won't. You were wrong or misspoke.

I'm uninterested in these things. I watch LSU sports because I like watching sports and graduated from LSU. I don't need to pretend I'm AD to have fun doing it. I care about Alleva's performance about as much as I care what the Dean of Interior Design has in store for Ottoman Week.

I did not start the thread....and I waited for 4 pages of comments before I weighed in. Face it...I'm not alone. Alleva must go.

Oh did I say that?

Nah, I didn't. I said that big donors have a say in who gets hired and it's up to the AD to keep them happy. Try not to misquote me moving forward, thanks.

Considering how its been well documented that Arranda was who Les wanted LAST year I guess Alleva getting pushed around in his coup was a wake up call and he stepped out of the way. Where would we be right now if if this was year 2 of the defense and we didnt have the lost year with steele?

thats because alleva was brought in to let Miles go... The money people arent very high on him... honestly the last 4-5 years he has been a .500 coach in the SEC.. thats not elite.. thats average... I think Les did need a wake up call. His offenses are basically offensive to the athletes we recruit. I love Les as a person, as a leader. But I cant disagree with his coaching more. If the offense has changed quite a bit, i would say its because he almost lost his job... We will see.
