Because college coaches have convinced ADs they can’t recruit without a 5 year deal

Any semblance of success will always result in an extension, which is fine, as long as the buyout is reasonable.

I would wait till after next season for a contract extension. Sure we exceeeded all expectations this year and we could be 10-2 and in a New Years Bowl at the end of the year but let’s see how he can do next season with different expectations. The expectations next year will be 10 wins (if we finish 10-2) and people will expect him to meet that standard. I would see how well he can do with Les Miles like expectations before I extended his contract

Idk hoe this works —- when are extensions typically offered? I mean if you have two years left why would you offer one now given no one will call him to be their head coach.

Better than a loss or two vs miss state and auburn .
