Mickey sees J-Ham getting a chance at a title in year 2 with the Heat and wants some of that action.

Coming from playing Class B ball in Louisiana, how did he think college would be as easy. Martin is out of his top.

I don't think anyone said college would be as easy as class b ball...

He obviously made it clear he didn't think he was ready. I love how everyone here is acting like Martin is ridiculous for saying he is staying....

Reporters asked him if he was going to test the NBA draft and he said he discussed with family that he still had more to prove. It's not like he had a press conference.

Yea. He comes from a family where growing up he had to take care of them a lot of times. He is a strong young man who has a lot of pressure on him to provide for his family.

He didn't play basketball till halfway thru high school because he never had time for sports because he was working or taking care of his siblings (4 kids).

If he had the option to leave and provide for his family then it was always a worry he would leave immediately. Nothing selfish, but his situation calls for him to grow up faster than most.

He's going to get ripped no matter what he does. It's really maddening, but it's the way it is. The kid decides to dedicate another year to LSU, with all of the pressures he faces off the court (you know, real life shite?), but people still somehow manage to pull shite out of their asses to put him down about.

Hell, just look at the 5-page thread about Jarvis Landry buying an Audi a month before he's set to make millions of dollars. It's sickening.

It's frusterating for me because I become close to these kids, whether it's personally or thru countless hours of reviewing film and their story. It blows my mind that people make such mindless comments without looking at the big picture.

These kids work their arse off and anyone who thinks each and every one of these kids doesnt deserves our full respect is truly someone who deserves none themselves.

I simply came here to bring up an exciting point that one of our up and coming stars is coming back to LSU for another year and people act like it's the dumbest thing that we even discuss it. Look at college basketball. The landscape has made it commonplace for kids to leave, even if it's not for the NBA. Transfers and going overseas are at all time highs.

No offense to either guy, but what in the hell makes them think that they are ready to go to the NBA at this point?

I dont' watch a lot of NBA ball but I happened to catch the Bulls vs. Thunder game last night and I have to agree. Nobody on our team is ready for the NBA. But I think with another year or 2 both Mickey and Martin could be first round guys. Both should stay IMO.

Eta: I realize all 3 (JOB, Mickey, Martin) could make a decent living overseas but I think both Mickey & Martin have a real chance at developing into NBA caliber players if they stay

It would be a bad decision if Mickey went. He's no where near ready to play in the league and would be a second round pick and could get cut. He must know that ....right ??!!

I still think it is very likely Mickey comes back. He simply said he wasn't thinking about it until after the year was over. That's the answer Coach Jones wanted to hear from all of them. He said he'd be thrilled to have Martin back next year but he hopes he hasn't been worrying about that yet...

I think we get Martin and Mickey back here.
