Yeah he was a fricking moron for wearing that. He deserved to and continues to deserve to be clowned for it.

I never knew that they made fun of him during the broadcasted halftime show until a couple years ago.

Still a Tiger though and I was glad that we had him. Disappointing how his NFL career went but that's his cross to bear.

Bert Jones, Tommy Hodson, and a few others would like to have a word.
I'm a huge fan of both those guys (and am old enough to have watched both of them play), but JaMarcus is right up there with them, if not above them.

Russell had a fantastic career here. Yes, he flamed out quickly in the NFL, but I don't care about pro ball.

Russell killed it here, and that's all I need to remember.

JR couldn’t hold Bert Jones jock.
I see a lot of down votes, and while it wasn't the most tactful way to say it, Bert Jones was an NFL-MVP, and if not for an injury that cut his career short, maybe someone who could have played into a HOF slot.

you must have lived a sheltered life if you think he was the best until Barrow. Only had arm strength.

Jamarcus had games where he'd absolutely frustrate you and then in the very same game would make amazing plays. 2006 Tennessee and Ole Miss both come to mind. Hell, that Tennessee game he came right out at halftime and threw a duck pick I believe on the first play. But then the comeback happened and all was forgiven Same with 2005 Arizona State, though that comeback was aided by some awesome special teams plays but that final 4th down pass to the endzone from midfield was one of the most beautiful passes I've ever seen.

The only real game I can remember where Russell shat the bed from start to finish with no real highlights to go with it was 2006 Florida. And I guess the 05 SEC CG against UGA but they played an entire season without a bye week and he got hurt midway (though he admittedly wasn't playing well to that point). 2006 Auburn I don't like to put much blame on him, that was a Les Miles being too conservative loss. When we started opening it up more towards the end the offense looked pretty good, and picking up the PI flag was absurd. Can't really blame Russell for that one aside from throwing short of the endzone on a play where it was TD or lose.

His 2006 season was the best ever for an LSU QB until Burrow game along, and it wasn’t because he only had arm strength

YA Tittle was better (LSU 1944-47)
quote:

Tittle set school passing records for 2,525 yards and 23 touchdowns. He scored seven touchdowns himself as a runner. His passing totals remained unbroken until Bert Jones surpassed them in the 1970s

1) Burrow
2) Bert
3) Tittle
4) Hodson
5) JR
6) Flynn

So what. The players I back then said Bert use to bet freshmen players six packs he could throw from one end zone to the other. Then he would proceed to throw from one goal post threw the other side goal post. That is over 120 yards.

J-Rock had an uncanny ability to keep both teams in the game right up until the end.

I said in my lifetime. Bert left LSU in the 70s. I was born in 83.

yeah, I'm calling bullshite on that.
even in competitions the furthest anyone has thrown is something like 80 yards.

maybe he could top 80 (he claims to have thrown one out of Tiger Stadium from north endzone), but no way he beats the best ever actually documented by over 40 yards.

It’s was the same when he was on campus, I remember going to pick up some pizza or something seeing him outside and someone yelled dumbass at him as they drove by. I remember thinking he’s our Qb, wtf. There was a play he threw it backwards but besides that he was a top notch college qb that didn’t get in trouble from what I knew.

Russell played great for the last 6-7 games of his career. Hodson made 1st team All SEC his 4 years at LSU, and Bert was 4th in Heismann

JaMarcus Russell and Rohan Davey are your second and third best QB’s to ever come through LSU. JaMarcus is second best IMO.

Jamarcus was one of the best Qb’s we’ve ever had. He would have done well in the NFL but for the purple drank
