To families that have to make the decision on where they want to send their kids for four years of their young life, it may have an impact. Parents want to know their child matters personally to the coach and not just a number on the roster. It's difficult to prove our coaches have this quality, but it does seem these qualities are mentioned more with LM and staff than. NS and staff.

Can't speak for Alabama players, but the guys who played for Saban at lsu love him to this day.

I think Saban is more of an a-hole to coaches/admin/media than he is to his players. And by a-hole I mean behavior like in the OP, not by being a tough coach.

I believe Bama endures him. How many people in that administration grit their teeth because they don't dare cause their Messiah any grief lest he might leave. Great coach but arrogant, condescending, and simply uncaring. He is a true self centered P with E. I can't imagine simply hanging out with someone like that.

Saban announcing on Christmas Day was a classless, jerk move. There is no other way to spin it. LSU deserved better.

I had no problem with him leaving. It happens...all the time. But on Christmas day, at 5 p.m., really? How egotistical can one person be?

Saban and Alabama deserve one another.

I've heard and read some negative reviews and fricked up situations from former players

I think Saban was a great match for LSU because LSU fans are emotional and Saban was too. But nobody likes an azzhole - I don't care how successful they are. People tolerate azzholes. LSU tolerated him fine (and really liked part of his personality). Saban left for the pros because he thought he could be the sh*t there too. LSU fans know winning is #1 when it comes to football. A number of fans would just prefer a likable winner over an azzholish winner. I don't know if that's really hard to comprehend.

In 2007 Skylar Green picked Bama over LSU because of Saban.

LSU fans want to win too. All the love for Saban, and conversely, and yet related, dislike for Miles from LSU fans alike, would all be bonded together if Miles beat Saban consistently. Winning cures all.

I was in the tiger gift shop after the baseball championship 09 - and CLM was in the gift shop buying his kids all kind of baseball stuff. I mentioned to him that I hoped he enjoyed his trip to CWS and we talked for about 10 minutes about his trip. I doubt if Saban would ever venture into the gift shop or even if he knew it existed. It just shows the difference in the two personalities - not that its good or bad just the difference.

Recruiting class rankings say otherwise.

I was working at Big Ten media day in Chicago in the late 90s. All of the Big Ten head coaches were assembling for a group picture. Every coach but Nick. He finally arrives 15 minutes late. Paterno says to Saban loud enough for quite a few people to hear, "Do you try to be an a-hole?"

Who cares if a coach is fun to hang out with. I want my coach to win and have our team prepared and playing to its full potential. Yes, it would be great if he was also warm and fuzzy, but many great coaches and leaders arent.

In regards to the article Jacques said that Saban was "NEVER late." However I have to disagree because when I was an intern in the athletic department I used to do camera for Inside LSU Football and needless to say, Saban was late pretty much every week. Sometimes up to 2 hours. So I don't blame him for parking in his spot.

Because not everyone believes in succeeding at all costs. Not everyone believes in cutting others down to get to the top.

Thankfully, some of us are mature enough to find importance in respect and dignity.

Im very sorry the American dream has become what it has. Do what you gotta do to win or succeed.

Coaches are leaders of men. They are a huge influence in the lives of their student athletes, but also a megaphone in the media. People look to them and admire them. Like it or not they are role models by default.

So if youre okay with someone being a complete arse who disrespects anyone because he is a "winner", then good luck raising your family. Youre kids will be a bunch of douche bags and your son will be a pothead like Sabans, and your daughter will be a fighting sorority delinquent like Sabans.

As long as you shite on a golden toilet seat, who cares who has to wipe your arse for you, right?

Saban is a POS and if there was any justice in this world, Miles would have beaten his a-- on 1/9
Let's hope Miles shoves it up his a-- this Saturday night in Tiger Stadium on National TV
