I'm an alum and would like to turn the basketball program around myself, that doesn't mean I'm the best person to do it.

And part of the pushback will be less related to Jones and more related to kowtowing to Dale and Collis.

I would hope we would back a fellow LSU alum to turn our program, which is at an all time low, around. I would guess he genuinely wants to get his school back to contender, and will work his arse off to make it happen.

no doubt I'll support him and give him the benefit of the doubt but its just kind of a meh hire. its not gonna get anyone excited about LSU hoops. I don't think he can turn us into a winner overnight while I think there's a couple guys who could excite this fan base right away.

if we dont force some top names to tell us no and alleva just bends over for what collis and dale want then it wont be good. If we miss out on some of the top names i wont be upset with JJ. he is alot better than what state got

Might as well have offered Trent a four-year extension with a raise in order to keep him. That's what kind of a hire Jones would be.

If he gets the job I'll support him as best I can and give him a fair chance to prove me wrong.

But I really think we can do better and I'll continue to believe that until proven otherwise.

Realistically, who do you want? The state of LSU Men's Basketball is a joke. Whomever we hire will piss off someone. I won't mind a LSU guy busting his arse to turn the program around.

I think, just from a practical standpoint, Jones wouldn't be anywhere near the top of the list.

Shaq lobbied in the media when Brady was hired. I'm sure that he's doing it now.

I don't see Aleva caving to the want of Collis and Dale without trying to get a bigger name first.

A coach who can turn LSU Men's Hoops into a winner overnight? Are we going to resurrect John Wooden? We are at a low point in the program's history. This is a total program rebuild.

unless the new coach is hired 2mrw and can pull a few recruits we have no shot at being in the tourny next year. I do believe a big name could generate excitement and we could be a good team in year 2.

trent basically ruined any chance of a 1 year turn around with his lazy arse recruiting.

As I stated earlier in this thread: we've at least got to force Scott Drew to tell us no.

What leverage does LSU have to get a big time Men's Basketball hire? Money will not get us who we want.

STOP it already..Jacques Doucet does NOT have nearly enough of a profile or street credibility to be referred to as JD...please follow the proper protocols !

We have enough leverage to get a guy better than Johnny Jones.

Facilities.

A fan base that could get very excited over the right hire.

And whether you want to believe it or not, money DOES play a big role in these things.
