As others said, none of the top starters threw today so a series would be interesting.

Both obviously pitch well. I think their lineup has more pure talent. Our defense is better.

Outside of Miller's phenomenal innings, I thought LSU looked like the better team today.

This is my opinion as well. Up until the fifth we definitely looked a tad bit better. I hatted that pitcher.

Guys, I know it's a stupid thread. Just excited.

Vandy's lineup is better top to bottom, but not by much. LSU's defense is better (usually). Weekend starting pitching is comparable now that Glenn is on it, but LSU has a better bullpen and closer. Vandy base running is better, but it didn't hurt LSU too bad today due to circumstances. If LSU could tighten up the base running, I think the Tigers are better. Otherwise, I feel like they're 1a and 1b.

I think it is a good topic to talk about. We got to see our strengths and weaknesses against a damn good team.

Ok, I'll be that guy. LSU easy TODAY.

We took them with 2 starters on the bench and bullpen pitching against their amazing offense....

They threw their all world closer for what, 4 innings? 74 pitches and he couldn't close the deal...

honestly I think its a push, vandy vs lsu. i'm with HCB. I don't think vandy makes it to Omaha. they'll choke

I think we learned that their bullpens are pretty equal, LSU has a better defense, Vandy has a better starting batting order. It went to extras, I'd say their pretty equal, but I'd take Nola against anyone else in the county.

We are missing a key player in Jacoby.

Having Dwight in the 2-hole going 0-4 was painful.

What's frustrating is for a while, our offense was unreal. Better then theirs.

I think our bullpen is deeper than theirs. That's why PM threw so many aside from the couple that weren't on it today.

Come on now, Vanderbilt is good, but LSU looked better even with two starters out.

As said above, it was like 1A & 1B--very evenly matched teams. But LSU has better relief pitching. I thought the Vandy coach let Miller pitch too many innings & CPM made better use of his pitching staff than Vandy.

I believe this LSU team is on a mission this season, after the nighmare vs. Stony Brook, while Vandy is probably newer to the big stage. I could also see them faltering before they can reach Omaha.

I felt like LSU was, just because I was so confident the whole time we would win.

Part of it I think though is because I saw most of this Vandy team last year in the regional at Raleigh where NC State beat them. So I dont really think of them as some great unstoppable team.

I don't think Vandy has their record playing in the West.

They definitely don't have those batting averages if in the west. Everybody in their starting lineup (before today) was batting >.300.
