Jacoby was swinging a hot bat before he went down and he might be the best second baseman in all of college baseball. If he's in the lineup with Foster who's batting well over .350, I'd say our lineup has more pop than Vandy's.

Ross and Stevenson are the only potential liabilities, but both are phenomenal on defense. Plus Ross always seems to come up with huge hits and Stevenson is usually the fastest guy on the field. I'd give us the slight edge in a three game series if hitting on all cylinders, even though Vandy has a bunch of guys that can flat out rake.

I think LSU looked better. I think its a coin flip when both teams are at full strength. If JJ hits like he has been I give LSU the edge especially when you consider what his glove does for our infield. The loss of JJ an ML is huge. The team has handled it well IMO.

I agree....I love JJ and we beat them without him....so when JJ comes back...North Carolina is next.

I agree with this^^^^. With Jacoby out there this lineup has waayy more pop than Vandy's. Bregman, Katz, Jones and Ibarra all can hit for extra bases pretty routinely and Rhymes will even give it ride if he sees something he likes.

I saw a bunch of singles hitters today on Vandy's squad, which is fine with the dead bats and all. But any one of our big five can change a game with one swing of the bat and that makes us a more dangerous team.

A team like Vandy has to get two or three hits in an inning and rely on stolen bases in order to move runners into scoring position. That's not easy to do when there's a stud like Ross behind the plate. They got 11 hits today, but only pushed across 4 runs because they couldn't steal bases.

We score a lot of two out runs when someone finds a gap and the next batter gets a single. We've done this all season, even though the offense has been frustrating at times.

The reality is that the East was pretty down this year. Tenn, uga and mizzou were in the toilet, fla is rebuilding and Kentucky mailed it in after they got swept by us. Carolina was the only team that could scare anybody.

I'm not taking anything away from vandy, they've been great all year. But I don't know that they would have had that same record if they played in the west.

Their ace lost to Mr. Mengden and aTm in the tourney and I don't think they would've swept arky, ole miss, state and bama this year.

They did sweep Ole Miss (road) and Mississippi State (home) this year. Their three Bama games were wars, and the 'Dores took two out of three in Nashville. Vandy went 11-1 against SEC West teams in the regular season but they did not play LSU or Arkansas.

I think it's pretty obvious that the Penguins were the better team tonight. 6 goals in a close out game! Come on.

I have no problem having a guy like Laird/Stephenson providing great defense and speed on the base path, but we are really missing JJ's bat. It's a big void that really hurts us. Thankfully, Foster has stepped up and played great so that has softened the loss. Stephenson had a great game too.

Both teams wanted to win, but preparing for the big dance was more important to both coaches. Today, LSU was the better team and the.banner goes up in Baton Rouge!

Who happen to be the two best teams, plus aTm who they lost to in the tourney. That record would've been 9-3 at best had they faced Mengden and Stanek as well, IMO.

Not only did he make the great running catch but he had 10.5 percent of his total season hits today.

That catch was worth 3 runs. I wouldn't have cared if he went 0-5 today with defensive plays like that.

Hopefully everyone is healthy for the tourney. The good thing is the team is solid from top to bottom and everyone seems to step up when called on.

I know, of course...just laughing about his lack of offense overall.

I think a lack of at-bats plays into that as well. It's hard when you aren't consistently in the lineup.

Sure, and we may find out if more ABs will help with Laird's injury. he just needs to put the ball on the ground and keep working on all forms of bunting.
