Confession is good for the soul. This was me too. I told buddy of mine at church today(who has never been a fan of Les), that I've come over to his side. I'm not making any more excuses or trying to explain away stupid moves and poor descisions by this coaching staff.

That's pretty silly, considering the thread that it is posted in.

I'm not sure when you wanted everyone to "come on board" with firing Miles (as I'm starting to, obviously) ...

Did you want him fired after the 2005 season?
Did you want him fired after the 2006 season?
Did you want him fired after the 2007 season?

Of course you didn't, because anyone that did would be an irrational dumbass. After 2008, certainly there was a legitmate voice to be had that Miles didn't get the job done and things were not as "rosy" as we would all like them to be, and certainly it appears that that voice gains steam after the 2009 season. Well hell, we get it, we caught on, exactly when we were supposed to.

Don't act like "you idiots should have seen it and called for his head in 2007" because that's frickin ridiculous, and if you can't see why, then we'll have to respectfully disagree.

There are shite ton of threads discussing the solution to the problem we are in. Trying to turn this is into a "solve our problems and if you can't then you lose" situation is just a way to take away from JPL's stupidity and blind homerism towards Les.

Ditto JP. I have supported Miles all along and will continue as long as he is here. But this season has made it hard for me to support him and today just about made it impossible. No excuses for a program on LSU's level to have a coach make that kind of mistake. LSU has the players to win the NC but not the coaching at this point.

I think this sums up the situation for a substantial percentage of the LSU fan base. Miles had been getting some grumbles, but still had the support of the vast majority of the fan base. I think he lost a LOT of that last night. I honestly think now that a majority of LSU fans believe he isn't the right guy for the job, even if they don't agree with firing him this year.

It's over for Miles.

That's enough.

If I was blind, my vision is now back. You've made your point.

What's silly is the thread itself.

We get it. You're a coach and you're going to support coaches. You don't have to make 1,000 posts about it.

I know a lot of coaches and it never ceases to amaze me how little the majority of them know about the strategy of football.
What they all seem to have in common is the knowledge that bigger, faster players are better to have on their team.

After that, it's a crapshoot with these guys. Look no further for proof than one Les Miles.

ETA: My experience with football coaches (over the last 40 years) has been that for the most part they are big, dumb clods.
Your posts, coupled with the clueless Les Miles, confirms what I've already known for quite some time.

Yes
Yes
and Yes

It didn't take a genious to see that the direction he was taking this program would result in where we are today.

^^^This^^^

I have thought most fans gave Miles too hard of time but also that he made questionable decisions in the course of a game that would one day come back to bite him. There were several games the 2007 team, which was absolutely loaded with talent, came very close to losing to inferior teams. I was at the game yesterday with my son...it was hard to explain to him why a coach making millions of dollars per year didn't know to call a timeout to put LSU in position to win. As my 10 yr old son said..."Even I would have known to do that!"

I could say that in 08 we came close to losing to teams with less talent, but we actually managed to lose those games in 08(Except that horrendous TROY game the Les Miles nut grabbers want us to forget about)

In 09 we went back to almost losing until yesterday. See Miss. St, UGA.

You mean you can look beyond wins and losses and asses what a coach is actually doing and determine whether or not he is good?

Hate is a strong word, and I don't mean that literally. I just prefer upbeat people and am not fond of people that do nothing but whine, complain and criticize those in power. They're just not very fun people to be around, and conversations with them are usually not enjoyable.

WTF do you guys want from me? I supported Miles as the head coach of LSU. For that matter, I still do as long as he is the coach at LSU. He did a good job until last year and this year. He has now lost a good bit of my confidence.

I mean, shite. You guys win, you were right. Congratulations. WTF else do you want?

I would replace Crowton & Co. and give Miles very direct feedback at the end of this season. If he cannot land a great offensive coordinator and delegate the offensive game planning and execution, he's done. If he does not change, it's time for LSU to cowboy-up to the tough decision and send Les Miles packing.
I wish you were the A.D. and could make this decision. Well said.

We do nothing but whine, complain and criticize those in power when those in power deserve it.

If we get a good coach there will be no whining, complaining nor criticizing. Its stupid to expect fans who pay good money for tickets and concessions to stand idly by as they watch their program be flushed down the toilet.

This is how you make things better by pushing until those in power make a change for the better. The same logic can be applied to anything.
