A lot will be on how the OL plays.

depends greatly on the QB situation, if we start jenning and spot them 3 scores we won't be establishing the run game

I guess this thread will get started every week until it actually happens.

He went off of the edge, and there was an unblocked player standing there. Perhaps he should have tried to outrun the safety to the corner, but he lowered his shoulder and ran over the safety. He picked up a yard or two on the play because he plowed the safety, but he did not find the endzone. Just a question for you, what do you think his coaches had been teaching him all camp about goal line carries? Do you think they taught him to get the ball and run to the corner, or to hit the hole quick and get running downhill?
He should have bounced outside on that play. He is young and learning. Every game he gets better and better.

yep, with the excuse-making when it doesn't happen (he's young, it's the Oline's fault, it's the QB's fault, it's the coaches' fault, it's the play-calling).

If LF is truly special (and I hope he will be), he should be turning some ordinary plays into spectacular plays. Haven't seen it yet.

but he's had some bad runs this year.
OK,there's one which may not have even been bad considering what he was most likely coached to do.

I see LF, Hilliard, and Williams as interchangeable at this point.

Keep your day job.

Anyone who knows football can see this guy is great.

Cecil Collins had darn near an All Pro line blocking for him. Maybe not so for LF.

I said in the second part of my post that the reason for some of his poorer runs is probably due to following the play and blocking schemes religiously. Fournette is a good kid, and despite his immense talent, he's very coachable. I have no doubt that he's simply listening to what his coaches tell him.

That being said, a veteran back probably bounces that run out wide and scores. An opportunity was missed there because he followed the play and not his vision. The coaches know that Fournette is a rare talent. It's great that he's listening and following his "blockers," but he still needs to be encouraged to take some risks if he sees opportunity. He can make something out of nothing unlike anyone on our team, IMO

I guess this will be the weekly thread this year. This and bringing out the "secret playbook."

Yes. Just like how Charles Scott blew up after a big game at night in Jordan Hare in 2008.

People calling him a bust are trolls. He's the leading rusher and receiver out of our backfield despite poor line play. He will finish the season with 1,000 rushing yards if the coaches divvy up the playing time like they did this past weekend.

ETA: Check out these stats:

Fournette: 56 attempts, 322 yards, 5.8ypc, 4 TDs
D Henry: 53 attempts, 320 yards, 6.0ypc, 2 TDs
T Yeldon: 57 attempts, 284 yards, 5.0ypc, 2 TDs

Gurley's stats:

YEAR TEAM ATT YDS AVG LNG TD
2014
UGA
69attemps 610 yards 8.8 yards per carry

Hill would have been in the end zone.

No, he is going down at first contact. He will be special but has alot to learn. Collectively we run for 200 this weekend and beat AU. Magee and Hilliard show the way with experience and patience.

Fournette is a great back and has tons of talent. He is a true freshman. Talent wise-I would say Cecil Collins, Harvey Williams and Ally Broussard were in the same class as LF7.

Maybe spreading the field getting him in space more helps

I think this is the key. LF can catch out of the backfield. Some wheel routes, slot sets, screens, etc. would put defenses in a quandary.

Don't know if this is his breakout week but it will happen.

Groundwork was laid Saturday for sure; explosive offense opened up the game for him, career high in carries and yards, multiple red zone chances as well.
I think he has a career game here against an overrated Auburn defense and the people making fun of him for the Heisman pose in week 2 take back their comments. Les committed to the most talented back last year (Jeremy Hill) despite having the horses he could have rode ala 2011 as a RBBC. I think Les puts the game in LFs hands this week and rides him to a win.

The last 7 years LSU is 6-1 against Auburn! 7-1 after Saturday.

That does not matter anymore, ala MSU 14-2 now.
