Off the top of my head...UF '07, ND, OSU

So, how did his coaching make a difference in those games?

Also, OSU did NOT have equal talent, half the SEC would have beat em.

He is average. The only knock I have against him is that he don't manage player well.

Can you specifically name games where Miles outsmarted the other coach? Not where we clearly had more talent, but where the talent was even or the other team had more and LSU won because of Miles in-game coaching.

I don't understand the point you are trying to make. What do you mean by outsmart? Do you mean outcoach during the game?

Really good coach, recruiter, & representative of a LSU BUT.....a really good coach who is only as good as his coordinators. Miles/Fisher/Pelini=NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Miles/Malveto/Crowton=great talent without the "killer instinct".

I love the man.
I don't love the coach.
He can make an egg omelette
but his eggs are poached.
It's still an egg omelette,
but it tastes kinda strange.
The taste of victory
always tastes the same.

In other words.... he achieves the "want" for victory every time.... even if his eggs are poached.... Makes sense? No. Neither does Miles most of the time he speaks.

And when a coach wins a NC, you can't really complain about anything.

why not? We lost to 2 teams that we were vastly superior too. He was a complete dumbass in the Kentucky game.

This is like complaining about being hungry on a full stomach.

Yes. Can anyone name specific coaching adjustments or decisions that led to LSU beating a team with equal or better talent.

A good coach can win games against teams with more talent due to "coaching". Has Miles done that?

Look at USC after it lost it's OC and DC. Did anyone say after this year that Carroll is now a bad coach? No.
Yes, they actually did.

I certainly don't think he is any worse than the year he won a NC. And when a coach wins a NC, you can't really complain about anything.

Miles isn't a bad coach, nor is he a good coach. He's a hit or miss AD. If the stories are true of whom he wanted to hire before Pelini as DC when he came in, then he is an utter buffoon and got lucky.

That said, He's not a good coach or CEO. He's entirely defined by his OC and DC hires. A good coach can withstand a bad hire/weak coach on his side of the ball such as a Saban, Carroll, Meyer, Petrino, Mullen, etc.

Miles can't even account for a bad/lazy OL coach, when his specialty is OL.

With Miles you are basically just getting a useless CEO being paid to be a GM with some in game decision power.

That said, he isn't a BAD coach. He's just not worth the money he's paid.

Er, you mean like that look on Spurrier's face after the fake field goal, or all the go for it on 4th down that beat Florida, or onsides kicks against GA Tech and Auburn, or the embarrasment of every team in a bowl game under Miles except for this years Mud-bowl, etc, etc.

i think he is a good coach who needs to surround himself with an elite staff. Without a great staff though it shows he isnt a great coach

this, you are only as good as the staff that supports you. as a manager of 25+ engineers and designers, if they don't do their job well, then it reflects on me. hire good staff, the results will be good.

So he plays Fresh over Seniors? When did this start? Trindon over Rus in the bowl game comes fresh to my mind.
