Is Les Miles bulletproof now?

Stared down his AD and survived a palace coup
National media jumped on his wagon and painted him as a victim and a hero being wronged
Got an endorsement from the school President
Won his last two games in convincing fashion
Just lost his DC to a division rival and replaced him with a bright young highly regarded DC
Is in the process of salvaging a great recruiting class
LSU is poised to be a preseason Top Ten team with a Heisman favorite at its centerpiece
Is Miles bulletproof now? I think so, he may be the most powerful man in the LSU system

He is either bulletproof or he had a near death experience with the firing talk. I wouldn't say we lost steele to a division rival, it was more like we tricked them into paying for our upgrade

Les changed in a negative way the last time his coaching life flashed before his eyes in 2008. This time it looks like he's changing for the better.

I laughed at the Aleva/Steele stuff. Saying that Steele left because Aleva doesn't support Miles and they fear for their job security. What a load of horse shite.
Aleva has been gutted, he and King are so publicly damaged now they can't tell Miles no to anything.
Will be interesting to see Orgeron's new contract, Cameron's new contract if he comes back and Aranda's new contract.

Wouldn't go as far to say bullet proof.
We will still need offensive passing production, because LSU can not run it's way to the SEC west championship. We're reminded of this every year.
I'm ecstatic about the Aranda hire, but hopefully we don't lose sight on the fact that our offense still needs help, and has been needing it for many years now.
Complete teams win championships. We still have some work to do.

Still need to win....
What this hire does is prove to the Rant that last year's DC hire was not CLM having to settle because of the CLM Contract Clause; especially, after the way the final part of the season played out---sometimes the timing isn't right for people to move, no matter how interested in a job they may be. I think Steele was the best of the remaining options and neither side felt it would be a long term relationship, hence the 2-year contract offer.

I will say that if he guides us to 10-3 again next year or better, He'll be here through the remainder of his contract. There will be just as much justification for firing him as this year, and LSU won't drum up the same scrutiny again next year. At least, I don't think.
With that said, how can you not be excited about O and Aranda? I think a lot of the fanbase really thinks all the talent is there on offense, and Cam has already orchestrated a historical season for us. So I think 10 wins at least next year. I think we can all agree Les is pretty consistent with that.
The question is, if Les leads us to the playoffs during the next years before his contract is up, does he get another extension?

Steele could have done us a huge favor, making auburn give us 500k and the public trashing of Joe should help put more fuel on the fire King and Alleva fire.
I thought it was horse shite that alleva was trying to tie les up as a way to fire him. If we want to fire the man at least let him have all the resources to hang himself.
Steele does sound bitter though that we told him to find another job

in 11 we basically let the D suffocate people, then the special teams made plays and the O just pounded away and ran efficiently.
we just need the O to get to the level of 11.

I can't understand the premise of your question given what transpired recently.
Miles was within an inch of having LSU pay $20+M to GTFO.
He loses to Bama, Arky and Ole Piss next year, you'll see just how bulletproof he is.
He has to win or he's toast. I hope he does cause I'm purple and gold through and through.

All it will take is one bad loss

I think miles wanted recruiting and SEC ties and Steele represented that. I am ecstatic that Aranda is an outsider and is young and up and coming. He is Not another SEC retread or weirdo like Pelini or Pendergast to deal with. He seems like a smart and focused guy with a lot to prove.
I know LSU has to win, but who at LSU has more power than Les Miles right now? If Aleva or Alexander even think about crossing Miles they will get humiliated again.

The terms of Aranda's contract will tell me all I need to know about who is calling the shots. It's pretty common knowledge that Alleva handcuffed last year's search with only offering a two year deal and the Miles clause. If it's a long term deal then the writing is on the wall that Joe has been told to butt out or has accepted he was hurting more than helping by playing hardball with good assistants.

we should be able to arse whip arky next year, they lose a ton of players. Bama is at home so it will be close, Saban lets his butthole get tight when he comes into tiger stadium.
Ole miss losses alot as well and hugh isn't a great coach.
However, Les is fully capable of finding away to lose all 3 but I think with DA our D should be much improved which should prevent us from having a horrible november like we did this year.
