They gave him 3 end arounds in 2010 and each went for 40 yards. So we threw that play away.

Yes it's time and has been time. I like the guy and love the way he has spoken out about LSU and how supportive he's been but he's purely an athlete with no football position. At WR his athletic ability is mostly nullified because it's in his head and he doesn't just play. He looks very awkward and unathletic at times when running routes and trying to catch the ball. That special teams play(I saw it as well) is his career summed up in one instant. He did his job perfectly as far as being the safety and being in the right position but when it came time to stop the returner, he tripped over his own feet and got shook. It's good that he was in the right position as coached but it did no good because he couldn't make the tackle.

I'm still gonna hope that at some point he makes a big, career defining play that helps us on our path to the national title.

I wonder if he couldn't have excelled at tailback. Probably not in the SEC, but his greatest strength - what all of his recruiting hype can be attributed to - is his elusiveness. If that strength is negated by subpar hands, and the inability to pose much of a passing threat, then tailback seems like it would've been the best fit. I think his only chance to be a successful college football quarterback would've been in RichRod's system at Michigan, or maybe a lower level school with a similar offensive approach. I think he could've developed into an electric running back in the Pac-10, Big-12 or Big East.

Remember how he was considering "whether to enter the draft" after the national championship game. ???
I really love RS as a person/ recruiter/ spokesperson for LSU though.. Geaux RS10!

shite, I don't see why he couldn't have been a star qb at oregon. Just hope he has a great senior season for the tigers and a successful pro career, in whatever league it may be.

Unfortunately yes. I was thinking tonight about what it's like to be in his shoes right now. Could have gone anywhere coming out of high school and now he probably won't even play in the NFL. He is a great representative for lsu, but I would imagine it's hard not to get down on yourself.

My sentiments almost but I still hold out hope that he can have a season that at least gives him a chance in the NFL. Slim chances perhaps, but I wish him the best.

I think before the year is up, Shepard will give us a huge play in a big time game where we are down late in a game. I look for him to have a big play in the Bama game.

Yes, this may sound strange but he's more of an athlete than a football player. He doesn't have a position.

I read somewhere that during pre-season he took some hand offs. It's possible there is something in the works there.

I still dont think its time to 'give up'

He's one electrifying play away from going on a roll.

And lets be honest, ALL receivers had drops today, it'll take some time for them to get in-synch. Once RS does start catching and gets in open space, things could still happen.

Gotta give it up to Shep for making the most of it, working hard and staying focused. That's the most you can do sometimes, till things start falling in place. Tough times for him, but you never know, things may pick up soon.

Agree with you

He is not a wide receiver

Maybe a punt returner too

I gave up 2 years ago. Nice kid, role player but not even close to being a threat as of now. Can't catch consistently, does not make big plays and is not tough enough or big enough to be a terror on special teams. I thank him for whatever he brought to the program but I do not, think it is a reach to say as the top high school player in the country in his class he has had a very disappointing career. I hope he gets a degree and is a success because pro football is not an option.

FWIW it looked to me like a TD. He came down with the ball cleanly and his butt hit the ground before he rolled and the ground knocked it out.

Notre Dame had at least 50 of these guys last century highly touted never did much.

I hope he can make a few big plays for his pride but he has little chance in the pro's great speed but truthfully he has poor Ball skills throwing and catching.

Having said that I'm glad he came back this year. I hope he does well and improves his draft stock.

Considering his stock is "undrafted free agent" all one can do is improve it

James Wright, Jarvis Landry, OBJ and Boone should be the first to see the field.

But he's had some bad drops on well thrown balls 2 game in

If you want to talk about dropped passes, OBJ had a couple of drops tonight that hit him in the hands. (plus the fumbled kick)
Should we give up on him? Of course not.

A couple drops by Shep should not be measured differently than a couple drops by OBJ.

Shep absolutely still has playmaking abilities, but we have so many talented players that his opportunities are decreased.
Shep will continue to be a valuable asset to the team in his leadership, as well as on-field performance.

As others have said, Shep has been a great ambassador for our university. He's an exceptional athlete and he loves LSU. I'm not giving up on him as a big time player as long as he is still suiting up.

There are plenty more positive things that we should be talking about at the moment, rather than questioning a devoted Tiger's viability on the field...
