aTm started out more of a natural rival than Arky ever was. But if you want to talk about little brother syndrome, that is the Aggies' specialty. They were UT's little brothers for many years and now they're ours.

Don't forget that TAM came to Baton Rouge every year up until 1974 or 75...we never played them at Kyle until the 1980's...

This is an old rivalry and there are several factors involved, including that LSU had a larger Corps of Cadets back in the days of compulsory ROTC...

A&M is already more of a rival than Arkansas. Hell, they were more of a rival before they joined SEC

This. When I was a kid, I heard more aggie jokes than I can remember. My whole family hated that school. Maybe if your memory of LSU Football starts in the Dinardo/Saban years, then you just don't understand how much bad blood there was between these teams. Arkansas fans suck too, don't get me wrong, but I've always felt like they hated us a LOT more than we hated them. With A&M, the hatred is clearly mutual. You can keep the golden boot going, even though the players look like they've never given a shite about it. But I can almost guarantee you they'll get up to play the Ags in the last game. Bet on it.

No... I look at it this way... You give me one game to choose to go see and A&M isn't even in my top 3.

I say TAMU will absolutely pass Arkansas if they haven't already. LSU fans hate Ole Mis, Bama, Auburn and Florida way more than Arkansas and there are a few others on equal footing. Despite all the push to make them a rival, they can't surpass the other schools. I could easily see TAMU climbing the ranks of biggest rivals and I fully expect them to be obviously above Arkansas within 10 years.

People can be in denial all they want, but like it or not, TAMU is definitely going to be our most heated rivalry in the near future. We hate each other. They are the gay cult, we're the swamp trash. Close proximity, recruiting the same territory, Chavis, scheduling issues, shared industries, the past rivalry, we canceled the previous series, we owned JFF, etc.

Exactly this!

I don't get why people try to deny it, like being rivals with them is a bad thing. I can not stand that weird cult school. When they beat us in ANYTHING it rubs me the wrong way.

Both schools have so much in common with each other it makes for a natural fit. Both are historically military schools, ag schools, very good engineering schools, both have huge alumni bases in Houston.

Just face it guys, the aggies are our natural fit for a rivalry. I say just embrace it and hate them.

I agree with "Giantkiller" who said, "aTm is already a more natural rival and the rivalry will only grow from here", however I wonder if the Texas A&M/Arkansas game may become bigger to each of them because of the old Southwest Conference ties.

LSU is always one of the biggest games any of our opponents play however not necessarily the biggest except for Arkansas (From their point of view).

Maybe Texas A&M will grow into that rival game. As I see it Alabama will always be bigger to Auburn, Auburn bigger to Alabama, Ole Miss will always be bigger to Mississippi St. and Mississippi St bigger to Ole Miss and Florida St and Georgia will always be bigger to Florida. The only true rival LSU had would be Tulane and they became irrelevant in football thus killing that.

Aggy and Arky are actually natural rivals. Neither has accomplished anything and both fan groups are loud cappers despite having no reason to crow.

I think so and I think the fat ^%$&^$&^@# ()*&^^ former DC going there will only heighten things. Not from a competitive standpoint, but now I really, really, do not like that school.

I was at lunch yesterday and ESPN was showing some of their spring practice footage and out of no where I yelled at the screen - something like "fat traitor". Not sure where that came from but it was real...

As an older fan, it's been very satisfying seeing a return of the LSU/A&M rivalry.

I have said many times on this board that the schools are so similar (yes, similar), that they are practically made to be rivals.

Watching the younger fans try to deny the long trend of historical hate between the two is amusing. They have no idea exactly how much they will grow to hate A&M, and they will LOVE it.

Some of the best times of my college experience was when A&M would come to town. The games were always hard fought and the parties afterward were always epic. I love, hate and love to hate those bastards from College Station, and trust me, all of you will, too, in time.
