I must be slow, to finally figure out GBFLT = Golden Band from Tigerland.

For a minute I thought this was another GBLT initiative.

Can we stop this? Llinas (middle in the photo) is fantastic. I won't argue about the guy on the right, though.

Face it, the band is a shell of its former self now. I hope it can be turned around.

I guess you know more about college marching bands than all of the professionals presenting those awards? Genious!!

Really.....He's the guy that left (took the band with him) ESPN gameday because he got mad at the ESPN folks last season......what a child.
He also had a problem at the SEC Women's BB tournament that embarrassed LSU (I'll have to ask my band contacts for specifics - but I remember it was bad). He's a douche.

Bring back Roy.
Why in the world would you want to bring back "Marching Band Curley Hallman?"

Seriously, have you been to any games in Tiger Stadium in the last 5 years and watched the half-time shows?

Incredibly dull, uninspired, lack of imagination and creativity. Boring and not entertaining.

Not only have Tiger Band Alums seen the decline, but common every day LSU football fans that never really care about Tiger Band that much, have noticed a difference.

Was way past time for change.

Ilinas has his shot for one season to put something more entertaining on the field. Can't comment further until we actually see some shows.

Show Design is not Rocket Science. It's not that difficult to put something out there that is enjoyable to watch......................

I saw in some recent rankings that TGBFTL was ranked 20th in the country.

Question for the band geeks, has the band ever been ranked so low? As long as I can remember TGBFTL has always been considered one of the best band in the country.

Indeed. As both a lifelong season ticket holder and uncle of 2 former members I agree with this.

It's about 5 years too late.

I don't need tOSU stuff every week. I just don't want the same 40's Broadway, Journey, Latin Flare, etc. shite we've seen the past 5 years it seems. Hopefully the change is immediately noticeable.

Wait until the JSU marches into Tiger Stadium (1st home game) with 550. Compare what a Division II college band can be like under proper leadership.
Yes, all signs point to a blow out embarrassment at half-time.

JSU is probably the #1 college marching band in the country though.

Like stated, it's all about the proper LEADERSHIP. We could have this at LSU once again with the proper LEADERSHIP in place. It's not there currently, in either the School of Music or Head Director of Bands Office.............

Define "way down in numbers."

Isn't the band the same size every year (325 members)?

Can any Tiger Band members confirm that the band will indeed be smaller this year?

All he has to do is play the fight songs, bring back neck, and don't screw anything. We don't need an arts and crafts show on the field at halftime or anything extravagant. Just play it loudly and proudly and keep with the tradition.

1. The Marching band will be the same size in 2016 that is has been in recent years, It is not going to be smaller.

2. Roy King is singularly responsible for the decline in quality performances of the GBFTL. The quality of our musicians has NOT declined. Their organization, motivation, and leadership did after Frank Wicks retired.

Any College Band "Ranking" is specifically opinion of one writer and has no verifiable data, stop listing those they're stupid.

The Sudler Trophy can only be given to a band one time. It's an honor yes but at some point every band in the country will win it.

Tiger Band has always been 325 and won't be any bigger.

Numbers are arbitrary right now as I'm sure there are still a ton of members that are probably still dealing with flood damage and have yet to report to camp.

Edit: Oh yea, it's not up to the Band Director to "Bring Back Neck". His/Her boss says "don't play this anymore" and they don't play it anymore.
