If we cant throw it why not put an athelet at the Qb position

Why don't we make a read option package for Gage,Dillon, Sullivan, or one of our other athletes that can actually be a threat running the ball? Asking O to think outside the box may be asking a bit much, but if your qb doesn't see a read 90 percent of the time then panics and tries to scramble (get sacked), or just toss the ball in the air for one of our athletes to grab or actually throws the ball but does so about as hard as a middle school girl, putting someone in that can at least do one of those things well seems like a pretty obvious solution to me.

We tried that once yesterday. I think the play went for a loss of 2-3.

Etling wasn't Brady out there but he is playing exactly how we need him to in order to win games. I wouldn't mess with anything right now.

I understand your point, but the fact is that we HAVE to throw. If teams are selling out to stop the run and forcing our hand, taking away the "threat" to throw will only allow the defense to further sell out and stop the run. The wildcat formation works if run as a surprise or if you have a mobile QB who can also be a threat to throw.

this is a football message board? does anyone actually watch the games? Yes we put a kid in there that hasnt ever played a snap before for one play to try and run around the corner which didn't work. that is not the same as putting Russel Gage or Darrel Williams in the wildcate or a read option package that would actually threaten the defense.

Etling threw better yesterday than he ever has. Still held the ball too long a few times and made mistakes, but it was his best game yet.

Have you considered the damage to Tiger football, that you profess to love, with constantly puking O-hate everywhere? Can you not "think outside the box" and realize that denigrating O will cost the Tigers recruits that we need and want for LSU's future success?
