The only way this generally happens is if you graduated from LSU and are from/living in Lafayette or vice-versa with ULL/Baton Rouge. Other than that, not a lot of love given. My ULL friends only respect me as an LSU fan because I graduated from there, they hate on their so-called 'paper tigers' all of the time.

I was wondering about this. If anything they would peroxide their beards theyve been growing all year.

Would be pretty badass IMO

It would be great if both teams made it. It would be even better if the national championship of college baseball was decided by two teams less than an hour away from one another, and both with players from the same little league team.

not a joke. The only school who owns the charter to operate as "University of Louisiana" is tulane, and they choose not to use it. That is a fact, not a joke.

1. 10% of their fan base wishes LSU and all of their fans would die 2. 50% of their fan base supports LSU but will only support LSU around LSU fans or outside of Lafayette 3. 40% complain that Lafayette should be the premier city in the state and ULL's engineering program should get 100% funding from the state, and LSU should get nothing

pretty much sums it up right there

and let's be frank about ULL…the diehard ULL fans hate LSU and have always hated LSU…

I think both teams have a great chance at making it and I would hope each team would root for each other…thoughts?

@Helmethead is correct

Tulane University is actually the "University of Louisiana".

Diplomas say "The Paul M. Tulane University of Louisiana".

They added their largest benefactor's name to to school about 50 or 60 years after the University of Louisiana was created.

I don't think "ULL" sounds bad. And its the correct name.

Meh if you don't think it's way different now than before, you are delusional.

Social media and message boards have exponentially increased the hate.

Let's just say that the last time that this happened, USL fans were NOT pulling for LSU in Omaha. So, I'd pull as hard for them as they would for us. Not happening. Their hate runs too deep, and it is hate, as I grew up in Lafayette.

and Tulane has given written permission for UL to use the name...read a book

that aside, I actually think it has gotten a whole lot better over the last 3-4 years with the success of the football team(i know its not national championships, but from 3-9 and no bowl in forever to three in a row is definitely success) and it has given alot of people around lafayette and the state something to be proud of. (again, im not saying all of sudden UL has a grip on the state, not by a long shot, but support has grown) before when Cajun fans had nothing to pull for there was only hate to go around, and the "why us" attitude. i think alot of the stories people tell on here about "oh yhears ago i was in lafayette and someone said boo LSU" are going by the wayside and itsnt happening nearly as much anymore.

Both fanbases in Omaha?? party for two straight weeks, just like the last time.

ETA- I was in omaha last time it happened

Please explain to me why it would "be better for LSU" to have a powerful program 45 miles away. LSU does not need another rival & USL would not fit the bill for that anyway. La. collegiate baseball is great now & there is no longer a need to have better and better programs across the state. USL does nothing for LSU; and to be fair, LSU does nothing for USL.

I've been to both schools--hence the username--but I am currently at LSU (I'm happy I changed). I honestly don't understand the tension between these fanbases. So what if ULL calls themselves "University of Louisiana." They do not have the money, size, and strength of conference LSU has, and I don't see it happening in my lifetime. Any LSU fan who has seen the place should know that. Both campuses have their charm, but LSU is flat out gorgeous. It's a much bigger campus with a broader spectrum of students from all over, which I really like about it. Flagship school for sure.

There are people in Lafayette that don't like Baton Rouge and vice versa. People are just proud of where they came from. I was always an LSU fan while at ULL (I was never a diehard ULL fan though), and I wish we'd just support the state. I hope LSU wins it all, but I wouldn't feel the grief I would've felt if another SEC rival won if ULL won. Both teams are playing good baseball so they could meet up in Omaha.

If anything, I think ULM should be the most butthurt about ULL's claim of "University of Louisiana."

If these two programs meet up then you are going to see fireworks if a batter gets plunked with a baseball.

Pedro Martinez and the ole Red Sox against the Yankees won't have anything on this matchup. Robicheauxay be the next Don Zimmer.
