I'm wondering if joining the likes of FSU, Notre Dame, etc. in a new superconference outside of the NCAA wouldn't be a more attractive partnering.

Independent. We could whip ND every year. Maybe we could play USC.

Tulane was independent for many years. It makes no sense for a school on the low end of the food chain to leave a conference, they get all the benefit at very little cost.

This could be one of the dumbest posts ever!

For the purpose of competitive balance, I'd flip flop Oklahoma and Arky. You don't want the best three programs in the same division.

Instant upgrade for the Big-12.
I was trying to imagine the re-config last night. Good idea on ISU dropping out.
This is not too crazy of an idea for LSU and Arky to move. I know a lot of Arky fans must yearn for the days when they played in the SWC.
Screw the SEC and the Alabama home cookin. It used to be gallows humor between LSU fans about the calls we'd get/not get at Bama or Auburn, but it's lost all of its humor this year.

while this shite is ludicrous, lsu in the big 12 would be interesting mostly for a complete change of schedule.
that being said we would look like a bunch of weeping pussies for leaving a conference over one shittily called game. (yes i know we have gotten the shaft plenty of times, but thats how it would be viewed)

As ridiculously crazy as this all is, I have to say I'd really like to see us in the Big 12.

no shite, and if we played in the north all we'd have to beat is ou or tx in the big 12 title game to go!

Really. For all of its faults, it is still the premiere athletic conference in the world. We need to quit whining.

Pardon me while I interject a little reality into this discussion.
1. Schools don't join conferences. They are invited in, which means the Big-12 presidents would have to vote to invite LSU. Do you really think the presidents of Texas and Oklahoma would actually agree to bring LSU into their division? What about Baylor, Tech, and A&M? It's tough enough already for them to win their division.
2. Yes, there would have to be a 14th team also. But why do you assume that Arkansas would be so anxious to go? They need that SEC TV money.
3. LSU would never make it as an independent because they would have to get a Notre Dame-type TV contract, and that would never happen. As popular as LSU is in the southeast, it is still only a regional power in terms of the fan base. Notre Dame can pull off an NBC contract because of the strength of its fanbase nationwide, especially in the large cities of the northeast. There's probably no other school in the country that can do that.
4. Let me see if I understand this correctly...instead of currently, for the most part, having to just beat Alabama to get to the SECCG, you guys want to swap that for having to beat Texas and Oklahoma.
5. For those of you who might like to go to the occasional road game...SEC West schools are, on the average, 391 miles from Baton Rouge. In contrast, Big 12 South schools are an average of 536 miles from LSU. SEC East schools average being 660 miles away. Big 12 North schools average being 964 miles away from LSU. Iowa State is 1,029 miles away. Boulder is whopping 1,246 miles away. Hey, it might be worth it though. LSU-Colorado and LSU-Iowa State could develop into great rivalries with national significance.
6. Those who seem to believe in an SEC-Alabama conspiracy conveniently forget that the week before the Tennessee game, South Carolina was only down one score with 5 minutes left, and Alabama had about 120 yards in penalties compared to only about 60 for South Carolina. Someone please show me the conspiracy in that.

We could replace Baylor in the Big 12 South. We would then be in the most dominant division in college football history! Texas, TT, Okla, Ok State, LSU, A&M. Let's do it!!
