re: If 2-5 losses per year was good enough for Saban, why not Miles?

And don't forget about all the new and upgraded facilities. Thank Saban and Emmert for leading the way on that.

Are you just stupid or what?
Saban came into a crap team, we expected it would take some time to recover. He actually did better than expected in a shorter time.
With the quality players coming in as he was leaving and since he left we expect the same quality of coaching but of course have not gotten it, damn - how stupid are you

Actually, if you look at the number of wins and end of season national ranking the LSU football program improved after Saban left and Miles took over. Again, no one is discounting what Saban did for LSU football, but Miles did better with "Saban's players" than Saban did, and continued to be very successful after they all graduated/left. Our program has enjoyed a steady upward trend since 1995. We have a better record this year than last and another phenomenal recruiting class coming in. There's no reason to think the improvement won't continue. I know my optimism must piss some people off, but I like to think that LSU will be successful.

I agree with the Op. I have said this so many times I can't even remember

Well you have been taken in by the SCAM of the CRAP games vs. the SEC, or real games. How McCllendon would have loved playing these soft schools and calling them wins. I vote we play my alma mater Lafayette High and ad another win
Wake Up

We didn't like saban when he was here either. We didn't start this love affair till he left Miami and became the coach at Bama

Yes because games against schools like Toledo, Memphis, Citadel, and FAU are just easy gimme wins for SEC schools.
What about UAB or Oregon State? *cough, cough*
We also have a better SEC record this year than last.

Sure there are the rare ones, but don't confuse those with the majority, obviously your not an SEC fan

Bob Stoops has had three 8 win seasons since 2005. Yet they kept him last year after another poor season. He has his team in championship contention this season. Think about it.

Miles has a better record and more top 10 finishes yet many can't get over Saban leaving and wish Miles would have gotten the boot. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Saban lost games no doubt. But rarely did his teams show up looking totally unprepared followed by a really schitty job of coaching on the sidelines.
Since leaving he has perfected his craft.
Miles doesn't get that benefit of the doubt because hes been here forever and still has his teams looking like dumpster fires at the end of the seasons...which doesn't make sense to anyone not ready to bear his children. He still has massive brain farts on the sidelines regularly, and quite frankly, a lot of people are tired of this routine.

It's hard to believe anyone thinks Miles is as good a coach as Saban. When they go against each other head to head, who wins? Sadly, it is usually Nick Saban.

Saban has a good thing going over at bama and has enjoyed many #1 recruiting classes. Expand your vision for a minute. 2004 roster and 2005 roster were very similar. Who did better? If Miles is really a buffoon and not a good coach and somehow just lucked into the last 11 years I wish I had his rabbit's foot.

They spent Three years getting coached by Miles. So as a rational human being, you're trying to tell me that they learned all there was to know under Saban as freshman when they didn't even play much. Then for the next three years they learned nothing from Miles but were able to win a title? You
so no credit goes to Jimbo and Bo, the coordinators in 2005 and 2006 (crowton was the OC 2007, but it's obvious Miles took over playingcalling after the NCG)
tell me how fun it was watching the 05-07 teams...now tell wtf happened the next 7 out of 8 seasons? So what then happened to Miles great coaching track?

2 SEC titles, 1 NC in 5 years.
2 SEC titles, 1 NC in 11 years.
Do the math.

You're right, OP. Miles is as good as Saban. The numbers prove it. You're right. You win.

Saban took over a team that had just had 2 losing seasons in a row.
Miles took over a team that had just won a national championship.
I don't think we are declining, but i think we have fallen back a but from where we were 2001-2007. 2 National Championships, 3 SEC Championships 4 SECW Championships. in 7 years.
That was a fricking dominant 7 years.
Also frick you for using AP rankings.
