Exactly it is absolutely fair criticism. To call a player names or personally attack them is wrong but there are some valid points to be made about timing etc

We hear that players don’t do this at Bama,
Clemson, etc. I refuse to believe that their message boards aren’t filled with the same crap as this one.

Yes, some people overreact on message boards.

On the other hand, nobody will ever get 100 percent support for everything they do in life.

There is a saying that if you can just get 50 percent of people to support you, you could be President of the United States.

I’m sure some fans certainly go overboard with the criticism, but is it really that surprising when fans of a team are upset and disappointed when one of their top players leaves?

Seems kind of a natural, honest reaction to me. Just as it’s unreasonable for fans to expect players to put their team/Program #1, it’s equally unreasonable for individual players to expect fans to put individual players #1. Of course fans put the program first ... that’s actually what creates the interest and $&$ and entire enterprise that the players get to flourish in to begin with.

Yeah this is what I don't understand. Chase leaving hurts, but he is one person. Not only is he one person, he is a guy who had an enormous contribution in getting LSU a national title.

The thing that bothers me is that many of the same people upset at him leaving and "quitting on the team" are the same people who will be the first to say "one person can't win it all" or "it's a team effort."

There is an entire wide receiver room salivating at the thought of being the #2 guy. Behind them is a group of young guys thinking that they can shine in the slot. If Stingley leaves next year, we still have insanely talented, hungry, cornerbacks.

Yall root for LSU right? What changes because some guys opt out? Honestly, it's not fair to the guys who still remain to slide on being as intense about the season. If you wanna watch Chase that badly he'll be playing again in a year.

very single person here wants the best for these LSU players. They are free to make the best decisions for themselves. But we're certainly allowed to have an opinion about it.

Right. But who wants to stick around and listen to shitty narrow minded opinions of a mob of manchilds?

Yes, people go overboard on message boards, twitter, etc.

On the other hand, message board opinions don’t go away when you go to the NFL. It actually gets much worse these days.

This idea of “all love, all the time” doesn’t happen in sports nor any other avenue of life.

There are hundreds of thousands of LSU fans, there has been a negative reaction from maybe a few hundred. Why does a little bitching from a few people matter either way?

The veil of anonymity on Tigerdroppings & Twitter is dangerous. People say shite they normally wouldn’t face to face or with their identity attached to it, & it’s very easy for the targets to take it seriously.

A good rule of thumb is don’t say it unless you would say it in real life.

Chase was allowed to opt out of this season because of the unique circumstances surrounding Covid. Hopefully, those circumstances won't exist next season. Theoretically, I suppose there is nothing that prevents Stingley from sitting out next year even in the absence of a pandemic. However, NFL executives and coaches may not view opt outs as favorably in the 2022 draft, when there is no pretext for the decision. It would be risky. Other DBs who elected to play could surpass Stingley.

Theree are many more people like that in the backwoods of Alabama and South Carolina. All college teams have Yokels rooting for them and critiguing them, can't do anything about that.

Yea, fans being upset about probably the best player on offense opting out. What a bunch of drama queens.

cfb is gonna get pretty shitty if kids can just play 2, or one with a redshirt, then sit their 3rd when you were counting on them for some wins.

Players who leave after year 3 aren't going to be redshirting (unless it's a medical redshirt).

Be prepared for this to become a trend for a select number of players each year. Stingley being one of them.

The nfl would rather the player not play. Less wear & tear on the body.

A player like Stingley only gets surpassed if he gets injured. Which is a lot less likely if he’s not playing

SR is pretty upset about the Chase criticism.

I see criticism of the “timing” not the decision...and rightfully so.

The problem with today’s world, it seems like most ppl can’t take criticism and don’t understand tgat I can respect your decision and disagree with it at the same time. It’s a pretty simple concept.

Do I respect Chases decision, yep! I’m just having trouble with the timing and what exactly has changed in the last two weeks?

I respect TS decision, but 100% disagree with that decision.

Unfortunately, this will become a trend across CFB. Top 3rd year players (1st rounders) will sit out the season.

This narrative that the LSU fanbase has turned on Chase is bullshite.

It saddens me that players parents and possibly players are buying it.

It’s not on there, because they shut that shite down before it gets started. The first sign of bashing a player or the program it’s shutdown. They tell you we can’t tell you what to say but we will tell you what you can say on here. So their idiots come on here with our idiots and spew a bunch of bullshite and nonsense in the name of LSU, then they go back to their board and laugh at us.

This is what happens when one kid and his dad start believing they are bigger than an entire program
The road goes both ways Mr Stingley , if you sign up to play you are committed and should play
Bailing out on your team commitment for personal gain is selfish and should not be rewarded by the NFL
