I agree. From the sound of it on the radio Sr is likely gonna advise his son to do just what Chase did.

Can't say I blame him.

This is my issue. Why does LSU seem to deal this more so than other elite programs?

Annoying.

Chase was allowed to opt out of this season because of the unique circumstances surrounding Covid. Hopefully, those circumstances won't exist next season. Theoretically, I suppose there is nothing that prevents Stingley from sitting out next year even in the absence of a pandemic. However, NFL executives and coaches may not view opt outs as favorably in the 2022 draft, when there is no pretext for the decision. It would be risky. Other DBs who elected to play could surpass Stingley.

This is true and something he will have to take into account. Nobody likes the "rules don't apply to me" guy. Although if the talent is there, they often overlook it.

You are the one that seems to think he's owed something here. You wouldn't be talking about Chase right now if that wasn't the case.

Dude, you’re just straight up lying and pulling shite out of your arse now. The entitlement and privilege has nothing with this board but these players are some of the most privileged and entitled kids their age in the world. They chose to be in the public spotlight and fans of the team get to offer commentary, plain and simple. I understand your white knighting but this is how the world works. I accept you have a dissenting opinion but I don’t agree with you. See how easy that was?!?

It's been heading that way for a few years. The tell was high profile players sitting out bowl games. Get used to it. On the bright side, a player won't have to wait very long to crack the starting lineup! Bring on the recruiting pitches.

Has anyone hyping all this "negativity towards Chase" bothered to take a look at the replies to his announcement? Anyone can pull up the tweet and see for themselves. It's literally like 100-1 positive/gratitude/best wishes vs the slightest hint of negativity.

I absolutely agree here. I'm saying your opinion in this instance makes you look like a petulant child

Quote exactly what makes me like a petulant child as you just agreed with the only point I’ve been making...they are not immune to criticism from fans on a message board ad we don’t have to blindly support them in ever endeavor off the field just because we support them on the field.

You are hopeless.

You have every right to talk about Chase. You have every right to talk about anything you want. I'm not in any way trying to keep you from talking about Chase.

I'm saying the reasoning you've applied makes you look foolish. If Chase reads your opinion and gets his feelings hurt, I'd think he was being foolish for the very same reasons.

I'm curious if this would apply to the players as well or just to the fans. Hypocrisy at its best.

So he’s going to quit the football team after this season, regardless if the COVID opt out loophole is still a thing?

What criticism do you have of Chase for opting out?

What makes you think otherwise? Seriously, what in his post even possibly suggests what he said doesn't apply to players?

if we start allowing players to sit out there third year of eligibility because they are a top 10 first round draft pick we are going to lose what makes college football great...

Ncaa or schools will have to punish some how these kids due to this whether its pay back your scholarship or have to pay out your third year of scholarship ...its not fair to the school or incoming players...

not sure what the right answer is but this is opening a can of worms nobody will like...and itll be the #1 topic each year

It's definitely more positive than negative. The timing is very questionable.

Dude, do you not remember how this all started? You came at me with some sideways shite about posters on the board being entitled to explanations when no explanations were ever demanded by anyone.

I'm disappointed with Chase's decision and timing. It's a decision that will benefit him and that's great for him. For the program's sake, you would hope a majority of the players are in it for more than just themselves, you know, the team and the education or experience, not just jump at the next best opportunity at the first chance they get. With this said, I never said Chase or any other player owes anything to the fans.

The original post..

quote:

K Bye. So tired of privileged entitled athletes. If you want to stay and play, good for you. Get an education and help yourself and your team. If not, go make your money but be prepared to join the real world for the first time in your lives. And I mean real world very loosely, it will be a job that pays you millions and you are still semi insulated from what everyday Americans deal with at work but you'll be less insulated than your cushy locker room pod and dining hall.

quote:

Why does the Rant feel entitled to explanations from LSU athletes about their life decisions?

Damn, I didn’t know one poster represented the entire Rant!!! Woweew, I’m moving on up!

Do you have trouble reading? When did I ask for an explanation? The athletes can express themselves, make decisions, and take action however they see fit within law and policy. As a fan on an LSU message board dedicated to athletics, I get to provide my commentary on their opinions, decisions, and actions. Why is this so hard to understand? We don’t have to blindly support these athletes, especially for opinions, actions, and decisions we don’t agree with.

This is presumptive bullshite that probably doesn't apply to Chase at all.
