No you don't. Pay up.

Well tailgating is more fun than the game the vast majority of the time.

You have no clue. No clue at all. The tailgates weren't as LOUD cause it was much more difficult to get music at them than it is today. Portable generators were not nearly as prevalent. Today everybody has one. You couldn't carry around seven hours of music in your shirt pocket.

Dude, games like LSU USC were off the hook cause of the nature of the game, but also cause the TailGate party just went on inside. Tiger Stadium used to reek of Bourbon on a Saturday night. These days I might smell a wiff a booze once every couple of years and just smile and remember how it used to be. Nobody wants to get DWI and Stadium searches and Marshal crackdowns in the stands have pretty much killed that off.

So...and please don't let me put words in your mouth if this isn't what you mean...but essentially you're just advocating more drinking...specifically hard liquor in the stadium?

If it wasn't loud music, or huge cooking rigs...or telescopic flagpoles at every tailgate...or 60" HD TV streaming a world of satellite sports programming...what exactly made this mythical tailgating back in the 1970's so awesome in comparison to today?

In short, you're talking out of your arse. Even on Saturday up until midway through the third quarter Tiger Stadium was loud and raucous and ready to explode if the team played well. Fans were BEGGING the play to improve, and every time momentum swung towards the Tigers State would stomp it out. State and LSU's played eventually killed atmosphere inside the stadium...not paid parking or less drunk tailgating outside.

They saw dollars, so they brought in Alleva and Co. who would ring every last cent from the fanbase...just like they did to all the programs on the east coast and up north.

Bad part is they didnt realize the good people of louisiana just wont come.

I don't donate enough to TAF in order to qualify to be able to even buy a pass. My seats in the EU only had a small TAF fee attached before this year. After this year, there is no TAF fee, so I'd have to donate to even be in line to buy a pass.

For years I parked in the grass lot that had been in front of the tennis courts by the natatorium. They finally, rightfully so, turned that into a pay lot but it meant I had to move.

Not for me, but then I like football more than parties.

I won't say it's dead...but I will say it's not the same as it used to be. The effects of January 9th, 2012 are still reeling in Tigerland. It's just a fact that something changed that night. I stayed until the end Saturday night. I hoped for another miracle and almost saw one. I left Tiger Stadium in disbelief, disgusted...after being so thoroughly dominated by a team that I hadn't heard had out-recruited us in the last 3 years (being facetious). Right now with our massively awesome super-looking stadium we are "all dressed up with no place to go". It's pretty sad what's happened.

I'm just not willing to spend the time or money for the game day experience anymore. It was easy to park in kirby's lot then walk to what ever, but receintly even on slow games its too difficult. So, then its either plan way in advance and pay to park then wait in hours of traffic or park near the river and spend hours in traffic. My life has changed now that I have a famliy and game day is just too much for a todler. Much more fun for us to spend the day relaxing at home with my son then fighting for the game day experiece. I wish it was as easy as the Saints games. The biggest difference to me is I have choices for saints game days.

Man,

For someone that started into this thread with

I've never given 2 shits about "Tailgate atmosphere."
You sure seemed to be bugged up about it.

You're no longer even making any sense. Part of the reason the Stadium was ready to explode was cause the pregame tailgating big game atmosphere was rocking too.

But I'd expect no less from someone making the inane contention that a day long quiet family atmosphere outside the stadium translates into a louder atmosphere inside the stadium...

I stopped tailgating several years ago (old age is a terrible thing). What rule changes have taken place?

Agree, it was also part of the huge letdown. Tiger Stadium will rock when Alabama comes (thanks to the students) no doubt...but something HAS changed!!

It's like death by a thousand cuts. Every year it's something new. Some new crack down or change here or there. Often small but often enough pretty big like paying to park inside Campus. Slowly but surely it all adds up.

100% correct. We're spoiled, fat, lazy, TV'd to death, and I think looking more forward to TSA fondling upon entry than to the actual game. We're living on past reputation plus Bam 2012. Other than that, if we're up more than 7 or down more than 7 at the start of the second half the place will be 40% empty. If same numbers apply at start of 4th quarter, it will be 70% empty. Unless it's Bama, Florida and maybe sometimes Auburn... What goes up must come down.

The issue is that the people who want tickets can't get them

This is complete crap. Do you ever go to the TD Ticket Exchange? The one LSU runs? Freaking Group-on sold $15 tickets for the OOC cupcakes. I have 4 tickets, been trying to hold on until my two boys graduate in case they want season tickets. Tried and tried to sell the extra two, offered at a discount, eating some of my TAF fee, hoping the tens of thousands of fans LSU says are begging for tickets would want the extras, for multiple years. Finally sold to a recent grad at work, had virtually zero interest. The fact that our one decent OOC game has been shipped off every year doesn't help. PLEASE don't blame access to tickets-saw many being held up all over campus Saturday.
