Other than Bama fan, I'm not sure anyone gets to make fun of LSU. If you take this shite, you're being a puss.

Don't buy it. I come to town a few times a year to catch a game and the times my friends don't provide tix, I'm always able to get them. If you're referring to season tickets, welcome to the fruits of LSU football success for the past 20 years.

You know, the success all your friends are laughing at right now.

For the first games you could not really judge the atmosphere because of the bad opponents, heat, chance rain, etc, but saturday was a perfect game to see just how it is. You had a fired up up and coming SEC team, great weather and no other big events going on in the BR area. I got to campus around 12pm and there was no traffic and plenty of parking around the ag center. I haven't been to this side of campus in a few years but I still thought that seemed weird. then I noticed that there really weren't a lot of people tailgating. around 3pm I decided to walk from the ag center to the track. I've never seen a deader/smaller tailgating crowd for a big sec game before. from empty to half filled parking lots to quiet, low key tailgates. I really was shocked. the gameday atmosphere on campus is about 1/10th of what is was 4 or 5 years ago and cannot even compare to 15-25 years ago. It really is amazing just how much the tailgating rules traffic procedures and price increases have destroyed a once great thing. I won't get into how poor the in stadium experience has gotten. I think even the tv viewers realize how unentertained the lsu fans are during games. i know catering to the big donors, corporations, suite owners and stadium club ticket holders is lsu's main focus but they really need to get their act together and remember what once made lsu the best gameday atmosphere in the country. lsu is on a slippery slope right now. i think winning is the only thing that is keeping these once die hard fans around right now. if the team starts losing 4 or 5 games a year there is no telling how empty campus will be. it really is a shame.

I've never given 2 shits about "Tailgate atmosphere." I'm on campus for one reason...the football game...so this complaint means nothing to me.

As far as that goes, when it mattered early and for a LOT LONGER than I expected, Tiger Stadium was as loud or louder than it ever has been.

But...Tiger Stadium can't make tackles, turn around and catch balls, not make strange 4th down calls at the goal line, etc. Eventually, even the most feared venue in college football will lose interest...and all the waving or arms by players by that point will be useless.

That stadium was loud as shite at times this week, and was great. The team didn't hold up their end of the bargain. The 3rd and 9 they converted after our scoop and score was as loud as it's been over thew last few years

They can't get them because season tickets are booked for generations. Because those tickets are spoken for, it will be generations that LSU is guaranteed "sell outs" for home games - even though the stadium is completely empty.

We bought 6 together in the new upper, no problem. That is bullshite and has been for a while. The reality is, all those johnny hardcores don't want to pony up any real money to go.

Great post, anyone who disagrees is delusional or not going out there.

The rules, restrictions and increased costs are really driving people away, that coupled with a bad season where miles shoves Jennings down our throat for the entire year could really be impactful on next years events

There is still plenty of great tailgating areas with free parking nearby. Just wake up earlier. If some road changes deter you from coming, then just don't bother being a fan at all. That shits weak. One small area of tailgating was impacted this year. Nothing else is new.

The "great" LSU atmosphere comes and goes over the years. Assuming by "great" you actually mean packed shoulder to shoulder from 7am-7pm. To be honest its kind of nice not having to get up at 7am just to fight for your tailgate spot. From 2004-2012 we had to leave vehicles on Friday night just so we had a vehicle with all our tailgate gear somewhat close to the spot. The last couple years we've been able to drive up around 8-9am and find a parking spot. It all has to due with national titles. Right now we just aren't dealing with as many fair weather fans on campus because....well they are fair weather fans. Its not like were in the 90's; there are still tons of people on campus just the focus has moved from Nicolson/stadium to parade grounds area for this crop of students. But I'm always in the same spot for 25+ years now eating and drinking and loving Tiger Football. Geaux Tigers!!!

Getting good season tickets is hard, but going to campus and finding tickets for individual games is easy as hell. I haven't ever had season tickets(except 8 years of student tickets because I am a bad student), and have always been able to find tickets once I was on campus, even for the biggest games.

If you can't, you either got too drunk and passed out before the game or didn't even go to campus at all

This is so stupid. To say people aren't tailgating is retarded. There are literally thousands of people out there. There are easily double the amount of tailgaters as there was 20 years ago. I got there at 5:30 am to set up and there were plenty of people at that time and by noon campus was packed. To say differently is just blatantly false. Tailgating and the game day experience is fine. If anyone is crying about this they are either an idiot or haven't been invited to a tailgate.

People just want to cry about the stupidest shite.... Especially after a loss.

You sure seemed to be bugged up about it.

I'm not bugged about tailgating. I'm bugged by whiny bitches who because they can not comprehend the ups and downs of college football fortunes have taken to the internet to conflate what they consider to be less atmosphere in the stadium to some bullshite outside of it. It's illogical and has nothing to do with reality. You guys are behaving like whiny children.

But I don't care what anyone does when it comes to tailgating. If I could teleport straight into my seats 2 1/2 half hours before kick off and avoid travel and having to wander around drunken jackasses on campus most of the day, I'd do it instantly. I'm not there for the party outside the stadium. I'm there for the football game inside of it.

quote:

You're no longer even making any sense. Part of the reason the Stadium was ready to explode was cause the pregame tailgating big game atmosphere was rocking too.

Talk about not making sense... You've spent this entire thread talking about how shitty tailgating is now...and now you're going to credit it as the reason the stadium was ready to explode THIS SATURDAY? For fricks sake...

quote:

But I'd expect no less from someone making the inane contention that a day long quiet family atmosphere outside the stadium translates into a louder atmosphere inside the stadium...

They have nothing to do with each other...the same as being a drunken a-hole has nothing to do with being loud and engaged inside the stadium. shite...I'd argue the opposite, as I've seen countless imbeciles who had a REAL GOOD TIME in the parking lot not make it to half time before their act got them tossed or they simply could not hold their alcohol and had to be carried out by friends. Blowing your load before you even get in the stadium doesn't seem like a solid plan to me.
