btw: we never asked them to move, just let them know that we're there every week and asked where they came from.

Passive aggressive much?

I always enjoy this annual thread.

i just wanted to know why they chose our spot. they'd apparently gotten kicked out of their spot. we used to set up tents around 8 pm the night before. that just taught us to set up tents at 5 on friday. never had a problem since.

No I read just fine thanks. You're neurotic and creepy enough to keep track of people you see 6 times a year.

So say someone has never tailgated at LSU and decides to come join the festivities. They arrive early enough and your spot is open, with no visual signs of it being reserved. You're telling me they were SUPPOSED to know you were planning on being there and have been for the last 10 years???

This is comical.

Can't wait. It'll be started by some sidewalk alumni fan who's "krewe" has been tailgaiting in the same spot for 10+ years, has their own t-shirts, and thinks other people actually know who they are/where they tailgate.

I'd bet a lot of these established tailgates at one time took another groups spot.

actually i have some friends now that i only met just because they started tailgating next to us a few (well more than a few now) yrs ago. it's pretty common i think when everyone's nice to each other.

edit: in fact, our krewe is made up of two separate ones that joined forces around 99-00 just because we tailgated next to each other.

Well when we took the spot from my friends older brother, he tailgates with us and introduced us to the other tailgates around through the years. Apparently meeting new people is weird to you

Who is saying we're not nice to people around us? I have never had problems with anyone who sets up around us because I'm not a territorial a-hole who goes up to them questioning where they came from and what business they have here. I understand that they are there to tailgate and set up in the best spot they could find.

When everyone settles in, the beer is flowing, and the "Tiger Baits" start sounding, I will walk over to the next few tents and introduce myself. It's great to socialize with the people around you. If they are constants, it's normal to start friendships. In my case, there are new groups every week. It makes it interesting.

I am responding in general to people like you who feel you are entitled to a specific spot. Not everything is about you. Again your neurosis is getting the better of you.

My mistake was where you said you tailgate. My original statement was if you know. The situation you laid out isn't the same. A person who has never tailgated before wouldn't know. I tailgate on the parade grounds near darymple. It's obvious via trips to the stadium and union during the tailgate as to which groups/tailgates are normally in the same area and yes I have met some of the people around us. This being the case in the area I TAILGATE in which was a bad assumption to assume it is the same wherever you are.

Edit: I agree however that anyone who would get up in arms about the situation is a bit weird and misguided.

Look man, don't get your jimmies rustled. I'm just calling it like I see it. There are territorial tailgaters and there are those who don't care where they set up. The rules do not give people assigned tailgating spots. Therefore, if I happen to be in someones spot when they show up, it's their loss. You may have had the same spot for years, but if you think that someone is supposed to care about that and avoid it, you are sounding a little douchey.

You put your tailgate up by your truck? Just find a spot and put up your tent?

I ask because it sounds like you aren't tailgating in regular spots. Most major tailgating groups inside of campus have been there for years and most understand that it is first come/first serve and they take precautionary measures to ensure that they are there early to avoid these issues.

the "nice to people" line wasn't said to suggest that you aren't. i was just responding to whoever it was (dunno if it was you) who said it sounded weird to know the people around you.

call me what you want, but i wasn't an a-hole about it. one might describe me as too diplomatic but i have 100+ people that expect us to be in the same spot every week. like i said, it just taught us to put out tents when the gates open on fri.

Hey you're the one keeping track of everyone in your tailgate area so you tell me?
