The fact that you even brought race up shows that you think it is somewhat a factor, considering all the available factors for keeping Trent to jump to race is stupid. Does that make you feel better now?

Race has nothing to do with his remaining, but his being less than 2 seasons removed from an SEC title and COY honors does. imo

We need to calm our jets and let this season and the next play out cause he's going to be here that long no matter what any of us might think.

saintsfan22 - I brought it up because other people would not. It's a legitimate question and in no way implies that I'm a racist. If I asked you if you like white people, am I racist? If I asked you if you liked black people, would I be racist? It's not the big elephant in the room. It's the coach who is in the room. And no, I do not feel better now.

It is?

Perhaps in your mind, but tell me the last coach LSU fired 3 years into a contract, with a winning record, and a SEC title?

If it's a legit question, should be easy for you to do.

My opinion and 75 cents will buy you a cup of coffee but I have always thought that Trent Johnson was a good hire. I am not being racist but I thought it was an extra benefit that TJ was black bc I thought young athletic kids could relate to TJ's enviroment and vice-versa. I am proud that LSU hired TJ to demonstrate that the good ole boy network was not going to be the law anymore.

As bad as this team has looked both last year and this season, you have to bite your lip and give Trent his final two years before any extension is discussed. Give the man his 5 year contract and honor him and his staff in that manner. I truly wish and pray that coach Johnson finds the magic next season to make some kind of post-season tournament. By year 5, TJ will have earned his grade. He will have no one to blame. When he succeeds, he and his staff will be honored if TJ so chooses to stay more years. I hope this is the case. I think next year, the fans need to get behind this program and think positive thoughts. This team should win more than 2 SEC games next year. By year 5, we should at least win 50 % of the games in the SEC alone. I thank coach Johnson for being patient and I look foward to better times next year.

Don't know why people think this matters, old stodgy white guys like Coach K, Jim Boeheim, and Jim Calhoun recruit as well as anyone.

If Trent Johnson is at LSU in 5 years, he'll be wearing a plastic name tag reading "Tour Guide", in the new Pete Maravich Aquarium of the Americas.

IF TJ would have shown a little progress he easily would get his full 5 years. However, I think he has most likely lost year 5 if he does not make significant improvement next year- He cannot win 3 -5 games in the SEC next year , get blown of games by 20 points, and lose to in state rent a wins.- if he does that he will not get year 5

on the other hand if he wins half his SEC games, runs the table on rent a wins, and shows strong progress he easily gets year 5

Regardless he needs to be in the dance in year 5

Unfortunately it's a fair question these days. I was at a high school bb game the other night sitting with a couple of black aau guys and they told me if he was white he would have been fired. They knew I have never been a fan of TJ, I really never thought about it till they said that. I think he will be here one more year, although i don't think the results will be good enough to keep him here. There really is no reason for this team to be this bad. The truly lack of discipline, talent level and effort is truly on the coach.

Joe Alleva is buying him time, trying to make himself not look bad with his first big hire.

Too late.

I find it embarrasing that a small percent of LSU fans seem to always turn things into a race issue when there is NO justification at all.

Having said that, it seems like we keep talking around the real question, which is was T Johnson the best candidate LSU was capable of hiring when Brady was let go? I was very hopeful that Anthony Grant who had better credentials imo would be hired, but noooo. So now Grant has Bama rising and is obviously the superior coach.

I agree it is premature to fire T Johnson, but does anyone really see anything more than "wait til next year" kind of future for LSU basketball with him? I just hope our AD doesn't screw up next hire.
