But im saying his abilities arent good in the sec where everyone is faster than you. And the ds are loaded with nfl talent. Im more on the lines of a lot of teams would have killed his production. You think hed be a star at texas? He def wasnt going to play qb there.

nothing that I have seen from Shepard at LSU would prove to me that he woulnd't be very successful playing at Oregon.

I think our WR coaching is a big part of the problem.

Dropping a pass is usually mental mistake. Good coaching should minimize that.

I thought this went without saying.

Probably not....but where did I say anything about Texas.....it takes a very specific system similar to what Oregon has for a guy like Shepard with his combination of size and speed to shine.

ETA I will say that I believe that Mack Brown would try to use Shepard's talents in a way where he could be successful......I don't think Miles has done that very well.

I think they are better than RS. I have no idea how they would hold up week in and week out in the SEC but they are better and I would take either of them over RS.

I'm not real sure how you come to that conclusion.....but I'll just agree to disagree.

My conclusion is simple - they get the ball and RS doesn't. It's by design that RS isn't a featured back/receiver in the offense. I don't know how else to explain it other than the fact that the coaches see something that fans don't want to see.

I'm not saying anything more than what seems obvious. If RS was special, he would be given the ball more.

I'm not disputing that although I think that has something to do with his mental state of mind as well.....but regardless of that my argument is he wouldn't be expected to do the things he is expected to do at LSU if he were at Oregon.

They would use him as what he is a quick scat back. Not a damn slot wide reciever. Any LSU fan can tell you that Shepard is not a slot reciever.....yet Les continues to send him out there in the slot.

We are coming up on another argument here....but we come back to that old adage "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting anything but the same results is insanity."

He has a nice average yards per carry over his career. The real problem is the staff had mo idea how to use him.

Create some matchup problems for Christ's sake. Have him at TB in an I formation with ware at fb. If defense comes in in base package have him motion out to be 1 on 1 with a lb or safety. Can then still run with ware or pass with a mismatch. If the defense comes out in nickel run him out of the I with that blocking advantage over a nickel back.

Any fool can see that is true of our offense.....but I think given the way that Oregon gets the balls to its playmakers he would shine there.

I mean hell he has made plays in our putrid pile of crap that we call an offense in the past.

I mean becasue he's not worthy of getting more touches. Not because of the offense we run.

In our offense absolutely not......especially not as a WR.

He didn't fill out and grow like Percy Harvin did. I think part of it is on him personally.

Well then I can go ahead and ask this question why the hell is he still on scholarship....Why not cut him? If he isn't putting in the work you expect of him cut him loose......or at least stop putting him on the field in big situations.

Like I said earlier it all rounds back to one place no matter what angle you take.

Although I still think he could be a weapon in a different offense.

Shep's had chances.

Hasn't always done worth a crap with them is the problem.

He drops passes because he takes his eye off the ball at the last second to try and spy the defensive guy closing on him. Maybe because he's been clocked.

He is not a reliable running option as he is not very durable, and has good speed, but not the best juke moves. This also sets him up to be clocked.

He has forgotten where to line up on many occasions in the past which kills momentum and play scheme. Maybe from fog of getting clocked.

He must not be able to pass worth a crap in practice, because he has not been given the opportunity to do so in a live game. Maybe fear of getting clocked.

In short, RS has had chances to shine. He has provided intermitten flashes of brilliance, combined with meh production/drops/forget where the hell to go.

Dude may really not like getting clocked. Gonna happen in the SEC where it might not so much in HS.

I agree 100%. I remember listening to that kid on the radio after he committed to LSU and he was already a leader before he ever got to LSU. Then the season started and no RS. Next he would come in the game, take the ball 40 yards and get pulled never to see him again. It always belw my mind how this kid was used at LSU.

People would say he was so small Miles didn't want him to get hurt and I say bullshite. There are definitely major problems with the offensive philosophy at LSU.
