I am sure he is. Any rational DC realizes this guy has the ability to take it the distance any chance he has it. He has done it before.

Throwing in high school =/= throwing in the SEC

He's not better than D'Anthony Thomas or K. Barner

It would take a lot more to prove that to me than seeing what I have seen of him so far in our offense. He is just as fast as Barner....maybe a bit less than Thomas (if any). That is all those two dudes have basically is speed. None of the three will make it in the league but given the right scheme and situation speed can kill in college.

Needless to say LSU is not that right scheme or situation.

Dude gets straight up body slammed every time he runs the ball. Not sure he could survive more than 4-5 carries/game. Then he can't catch, and can't throw. I'm not sure where else you can work him in

Sounds just like all other qb's under Miles.

Hes not that good. He def should have gone to oregon, but lets be real guys, if oregon was in the sec, they wouldnt put up the same numbers. Russell has been almost snapped in half on several occasions.

Also, after 4 years, youd think a so called fan can spell his fricking name rt. Shepard.

I just don't think he's a very good football player and people base this off of his HS highlights.

Look there is a ton of shite to blame on this offensive staff....A TON. But I don't hold them responsible for RS's lack of production

I just don't understand how he was lighting it up in HS and he's been a complete and total non-factor in our offense for 4 years.

in 2010 he was a factor. he averaged 5 touches/ game. actually caught 33 of Jordan's mostly shitty passes.

and those big runs against UNC and Vandy set up big plays at other times when we decoyed off him (the bomb to Randle vs UNC - fake handoff to Shep).

Not we, Miles! Tiger fans have been wondering for years why he hasn't played more! Has a 78yd play and Miles doesn't run him again although he did have a catch later in the game. A total waste of talent. Remembered how excited I was when he sign on but should have known what was going to happen in "Miles' offense".

I don't think anyone is suggesting that......but I think come the end of the season De'Anthony Thomas will be in NY becuase he is fast and because of the system he plays in at Oregon. I think he might win it if Geno takes a loss.

So what you are saying is you would say Russell Shepard would suck at Oregon based on what you have seen of him at LSU?

That is foolish.

What would he be in a Chip Kelly or Leach offense?

gotta be able to catch the ball.

RS struggles with that

he also caught 33 passes that yr though. and they were horrible passes where he couldn't do much after the catch. Mett is actually pretty accurate. Shep may drop 1 here and there, but frick it work the ball to him.

to your point about him mainly being a running threat, cool. decoy/ play action off it.

RS just isn't what everyone thought he would be. Under no circumstances would RS start in the Oregon offense.

RS wouldn't even start for Florida if you want to talk speed.

Jefferson was sacked a whole lotta times. Lee not nearly as much but who did Miles love - Jefferson. Jamarcus wasn't recruited by Miles.

The difference is those guys at Oregon aren't asked to come across the middle or run deep routes most of the time.......most of the time they are gashing people out of the backfield or off a screen type play from the slot. They also take a lot of end arounds and direct hand offs in the backfield.

Again.....like I said earlier nothing that I have seen from Shepard at LSU would prove to me that he woulnd't be very successful playing at Oregon.

I wonder how you think De'Anthony Thomas would do at LSU? or Kenyon Barner.
