Football teams don't turn down bowl bids. The money goes into a conference pool, plus you get extra practice time since you're prepping for another game. If you don't go to a bowl game, you can't practice in December.

It's a no-brainer they would not turn down a bowl game.

Yeah, they accept. They're going to need the money.

1) The league wouldn't let a member school decline.

2) LSU actually loses a little money when they go to a lower tier bowl. Expenses outweigh money earned

If you guys think recruiting is bad, just wait until we turn down a bowl bid.

Players get all kinds of cool free shite when they go to bowl games. Good luck getting any kids to come here after that.

They’ll accept the invite for the valuable extra practice time. I believe it’s 15 practice days, which gives our team at least a good 45 minutes or so of practice time for the year.

Not sure how we get 6 wins but you take the bowl mainly because that practice time is invaluable. Non bowl teams dont get those extra weeks

In what fantasy universe does LSU win 3 more games?

You accept the bid for no other reason than you get a few extra weeks of practice hopefully with new HC.

What "cool free shite" does the Birmingham Bowl hand out: a trip to the Bear Bryant museum and a ride along for a drive by shooting?

Isn’t it still possible to get to a bowl at 5-7?

We won't finish 6-6, unfortunately.
