Some of these guys aren't as good as advertised. Mainly in the secondary.

Simon leaving may be a surprise to some fans, but not to anyone who's remotely close to the situation. He's not leaving because of the coaches. He's leaving because he has kids and wants the money. He may not be ready, but I guess he feels the money is more important.

1. Massive injuries throughout the season (o-line especially)
2. Hands of Stone by the receiving core
3. Inaccurate throws and poor decision making by the QB made worse by the first two
4. No "spark" players to provide big, game-changing plays.

Why should we be alarmed about good players declaring for draft?

These players aren't as good as they and the LSU fans believe they are. There is an underlying issue here. After the loss in the BCS game, a number of players had issued thoughts of leaving early. I have to feel if LSU had beaten Clemson, a number of these juniors would not have declared for the NFL.

QB sucked.

Yet lsu was one play away from playing in sec champ game and playing for spot in bcs title game for second year in a row . I'd say LSU was a pretty good team this year.

Sorry, there weren't 6 or 7 NFL ready players on that defense.

Some of these guys are going to be making big mistakes I'm afraid.

Mingo, Montgomery, Reid, Minter and Logan are the ones i'd consider NFL ready

I agree, at times especially late in the season the D was average at best.

I'm not convinced that any of them will be top 15 picks like predicted actually

Maybe Sam

There's really nothing up. Lot of NFL-caliber players that can be realistic about their prospects. The only thing worth staying for in their cases is a good chance at a national championship, which means a good chance at winning the SEC. It's not anywhere near a sure thing. Who in his right mind would risk blowing an NFL career to injury without a very strong prospect at significantly improving draft stock (which these guys can't really do at this point, sans perhaps Simon or Reid) or winning a championship (which is no sure thing by any means)?
