Everybody in the room with me said the same thing, he looked a lot like Drew on that play

Our RT looks like crap on that play

Good thing #84 chipped the DE on the way out

WTF was #84 doing on his "route"; maybe just getting blatantly held by the LB?
Not dropping back 15+ yards is a good thing. You have to adjust from what you are used to seeing. While the wide receivers would get thrown under the bus when they couldn't catch every pass rifled 5 feet over their head, the o-line was frequently thrown under the bus for allowing sacks when the QB would drop back anywhere from 15 yards on and scramble on a moments notice. The linemen need to know where the QB will be so they can protect that spot.

If Etling had better arm strength, he would play in the NFL.

Don't confuse understanding how to use touch with arm strength. That deep ball he over threw early in the game had some pretty good zip on it.

Etling may be the our best "game manager" since Matt Flynn.

Pocket presence is so vital to the success of an LSU QB.

Looks like he has been studying some Drew Brees film, with that pocket awareness.

So glad you said it, been thinking the same thing but I think the active player comparisons are getting out of control. This is one of those comparisons that actually fit well. Once he starts tightening up his foot movement in the pocket he will uncannily resemble Drew in the pocket.

I would love to see him in New Orleans as a project. Looks to be a very bright player that can manage the offense and find the mismatches. If he improves his footwork he will be very accurate. Deep ball might be a concern but half of the idiots on ST claim Drew can't throw deep anyway.

Biggest plus with DE is footwork. Kid knows how to keep his legs under him.

At Purdue, he was running for his life on almost every play. I'm not surprised that he's developed a cool head and good improvisational skills. He had to in order to survive there.

That was a hell of a pitch and catch

But wtf was was Moreau doing at the top of the screen lol?.. he comes out of his stance running and obvious route but inseas of running by the defender he just engages him for about 5 yes well the los.

I feel like Harris would have just dropped to the ground instead of stepping up and trying to make a play.

Unfortunately I don't believe Harris would have stepped up. He would have tried to scramble around the defender, likely to the right. By not stepping up the QB loses every opportunity to make a down field throw.

Not sure your point there. #75 did the exact same thing on the play where he almost got Etling killed.

LINK

Now Moreau didn't chip his man, so the DE came right up the field and ran by 75. Besides that about the same play. It has nothing to do with the drop of the QB. It has everything to do with #75 not moving his dam feet.

I am glad that Etling had pocket presence, but I would MUCH rather a clean pocket and not risk a fumble inside my 10 b/c the QB was looking to his left.

Anybody think Etling taking too deep of a drop on this type of play? He drops 10 yards, which gives the DE a much easier rush angle and makes the OT job much harder. Normal drop would be 7-8 yards.

I've been screaming for that play since day 1. We have the talent at WR but I think Harris just didn't feel comfortable throwing it for some reason. IMO, these type plays are why we are 3-0 under Coach O.

A few of our recent qb's would have retreated toward the sideline in an arc.

I thought it was refreshing to see Colin Jeter catch a pass. I'd like to see him used more like a Jimmy Graham thing.

Agree. He's cool as a fan in the pocket. Huge for our tackles to hold up vs bamas DT's so he can step up and into his throws.
