How likely is it that TA&M jumps LSU for a BCS spot?

Is this really going to happen? I know both teams will win out and we will stay ahead of them, but would the selection committee choose them over us?

Someone please prove that statement wrong.

Nope, not if both win out.

BCS will take the "bigger name" and head-to-head winner.

LSU legitimately a "big boy" now.

we won't know til it happens one way or the other. Its up to the bowls and who is in the BCS CG. But it's possible.

It's possible, but more likely fiesta takes LSU. Odds are on our side, albeit by a whisker.

-higher ranked
-won head to head
-more "premier" matchup
-SEC might politely recommend something to make everyone happy (LSU-Fiesta, A&M-Texas Cotton)

If we end up in top4, discussion is moot because we are automatic

The "BCS" doesn't take anyone. The Fiesta or Rose Bowls do and they care about selling tickets and TV ratings not who beat who or taking #5 over #7 or whatever.

I'm with you that it could go either way, and there is definitely no "guarantee" that Fiesta takes LSU over A&M, but IMO the odds of Fiesta going with LSU are a tad higher than the Fiesta going with A&M.

LSU definitely has a few variables that give LSU a slight edge in this discussion IMO.

I meant "BCS bowls", my bad ... and the rest of your post backs up what I said.

then it's pretty sure an LSU pick....i guarantee the Rose Bowl remembers 45,000 requests for tickets back in 2006....

plus LSU has a reputation for fans spending money when they get to their destination

The Rose Bowl seems very unlikely unless Fiesta changes course and takes Notre Dame over OU to replace Kansas State.

If Fiesta takes OU as Edwards said his sources are saying they will do, then the Rose is without question going to take Notre Dame.

The big question is will Fiesta take A&M or LSU to face OU. And it is certainly up for discussion, but IMO LSU will get the nod when all is said and done.

Also, never forget the gigantic stick up the arse of the Rose Bowl. They really do view themselves as the gatekeepers of the most hallowed grounds in college football. They are not going to give a bid to some upstart like A&M, having one good year, over LSU, who has sustained excellence for over a decade.

LSU's biggest worry is not A&M, it is Florida. We need to root real hard for FSU.

Texas has 4 times the population as La. LSU does not have as much national appeal as you think. Not to say we have none, but outside of ND, national appeal is marginal. A&M fans are very excited and there are a lot of them. They would travel to a BCS bowl and watch on TV.

Depends on who winds up #1. The bowl that loses the #1 team picks first and will take Notre Dame if ND is not in the BCS CG. If Oregon wins out that probably are the #1 team and the Rose Bowl will take them. If they are gone, then I think we have a good shot. But just because A&M hasn't been very food lately doesn't meant their fans won't go to a BCS bowl.

Brad Edwards said his Fiesta Bowl sources say that they will not do this. Supposedly, they will remain true to their Big12 ties and replace KState with Oklahoma.

No question. LSU and A&M's BCS hopes die IMO if Florida beats FSU.

1-loss Florida is going to the BCS along with the SECCG winner.

The only thing that could potentially bump LSU down to CFA/Gator is Florida beating Florida State.

Only 2 things are absolutely necessary to get LSU into the BCS discussion:
-LSU wins out
-FSU beats Florida

Would be pretty stupid of them to do this, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

A helluva lot more than Texas A&M I'd imagine.
