Agree with the op. With Saban at Texas there will be no more excuses for miles.

Well since the Alabama game is never of importance, why worry?

As long as only Nick Saban and Urban Meyer are the only two coaches that ever win in Tiger stadium, Les Miles is untouchable by your rants or anyone else's.

Too soon to be calling that one bud

Nope, because we we will have 3 loaded recruiting classes between 2013-2015. In 2015 There will be no less than four 5 stars in the secondary. Two five star backs, 3 5 star WRs, a 5 star MLB, a 5 star DE, plus the bevy of great four star and experienced players we will have.

would we be having these threads if Saban was still at Miami and there was another coach at bama having the same success they are now having. I remember the curly/dinardo years. ill take 10-2 or 11-1 every year. consistency in my book is just as important as an occasional mnc until we have a true playoff system and polls and bcs rankings are not a factor. you could have an undefeated team left out this year with no chance to prove their worth on the field

Miles runs a great program. When you compare his results over the last 10 years they are better than everyone else not named Saban. He has two national championships, an appearance in a third, 3 SEC championships and he averages 10 wins a year in the toughest conference in college football. Whether you want to get rid of him or not, the only way Miles gets forced out is if he has two losing seasons back to back or some huge scandal surfaces. Neither of those will happen. All of you guys who want Miles gone like to think you demand excellence and that it is somehow admirable that you have such high standards. I don't buy it. Unless any of you are CEO's of Fortune 100 companies or self-made millionaires, you have no standing to make such an argument.

Miles is in good shape. He is fortunate he is at LSU. The expectations are lower. As long as he wins around 9 a year he is fine. LSU doesn't have a historically dominant program. Most fans are happy just to be competitive. Miles is a good enough recruiter to keep his job. He would be fine even if he lost to Bama 5 straight years.

Miles has lost the last three and the 2nd half of this year's game left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Considering McCarron, Mosley, etc will be gone, is this a must win for Miles? I say yes.

Depends on how the team is doing.

There are four types of fans at this point:

1) Those that fear the early 90's as if the HC was the only reason for the issues then.

2) Fans that are just happy with mediocrity.

3) Fans that realize while they'd rather someone else, Les isn't going anywhere and have accepted LSU's determined place in the SEC pecking order.

4) Fans that will never be happy with Les and want him fired no matter what.

If LSU is struggling next season, groups 1-3 will be disappointed but accept that LSU simply isn't going to be as good as Bama with Saban there, while Group 4 will call for his head.

If LSU is 7-0 going into that game and gets destroyed, then Les will have some issues.

In the end, because of his contract and the fact he's forced LSU fans to be fine with inconsistency and slightly above average play, Les will be fine for at least 2-3 years.

We don't know a thing about how either team will be next year. Way too early for all that.

Before you run Les off, consider this: He's lost ONE home game in the last three years, and if they beat Arky, they will will have won nine games with more than half of their defense from last year bolting for the NFL.

Yeah, maybe he's not Saban, but nobody else is, either. Yep....we could get rid of Miles....but we also might end up with Curley Hallman, Part II.

Right now I am way more interested in Les having the team fired up on Friday. A good bowl performance is also more important right now.

College football dominance is cyclical. Bama's run will end soon enough and when it does we'll have a shot again. For now, we need to not make matters worse by forcing an implosion.

My bad on the "2" championships. I've been away from BR for 20 years and it's been an awesome 13 years of FB at LSU. So, he's been at LSU 8 years, has one NC, appeared in another, 2 SEC championships and averaged 10 wins a year in the toughest conference. I still say he won't be forced out unless he has 2 back-to-back losing seasons or a big scandal break. I don't see that happening.

It is of the same importance as the Mississippi State game. Just way harder to win.
