If Hill runs for 1400 yards again next year and he, Magee, and Fournette form a triple-headed monster at RB, he could move into the first round.

It happens.

He could easily vault himself to a 1st or 2nd rounder by having a good 2014. He needs one more year to showcase himself to become a very very high draft pick.

I don't get why people bitch and bitch about guys leaving early for the NFL. And now when arguably our best player is talking about returning everyone is obsessed about how it would effect his draft stock

Just be happy he may come back! Once he's in the NFL he'll never play for LSU again, stop obsessing over it

Say what?

Signed,
Frank Gore

Throughout his eight-year NFL career, Gore has often been ranked among the best and most respected running backs playing the game, having been selected to five Pro Bowls and achieving four straight seasons with 1,000 rushing yards.

yup. 1st or 2nd round in 2015> 3rd round or later in 2014. not sure why folks think otherwise. the cutoff for good first year money is round 2, and its still better long term if your getting it a year later.

Frank Gore is one back - that's not much of a sample size. The AVERAGE life span of an NFL RB is 3 years.

the average for rbs that make it through their first contract is a lot more than 3 years. if you arent good enough to make it through your first contract, it hardly matters. that average of 3 years includes ufa training camp cuts, guys that didnt even make it one year.

Delaying the receipt of money is indeed foregoing something. $1 in hand today is worth more than $1 to be received a year from now. That's basic economics. Hell, it's basic arithmetic. I think there are lots of benefits to his staying, financial and non. But you hurt your argument by being wrong on fundamental truth.

And your basic arithmetic is poor. They are foregoing money, and likely taking out insurance policies if they stay, but in all three cases the players would be potentially improving their stocks.

Collins could easily get a first round grade next season and more than double his 1st contract value.

Hill could push into the 2nd round where he'd significantly increase his contract value.

Turner will be the riskiest, but could definitely help his stock with another strong year. He's likely a late round/UFA right now and could be a top 4 round pick after next year.

Yes, the contracts for mid-late draft picks aren't as high compared to UDFAs in the past, but they still are higher and more guaranteed money.

In the end, there is a risk in returning, but also a good chance for significant monetary reward for them as well.

I respect players that stay. What I think most players don't understand is they only make money for 5-10 years in the NFL if your good. Well most of these guys don't have experience with managing their money and when they get out and they continue their lifestyle as if they are still making millions and that cash runs out much quicker than most think. Come back another year and get your degree and earn the respect of the state. He will be able to easily get a job if/when he comes back to the state once his career is over. You can't retire at age 30. You have to be able to do something else. He is making the smart decision.

Consequently, we can look no further than Scott as a case study of what can happen when an LSU rb decides to delay pro status for an extra year college.

And Joseph Addai is an example who can spend 5 years at LSU, get a NC ring, his degree, make himself a 1st round pick, get a nice rookie contract ($11.65 million/5 years), start as a rookie, parlay that into a nice second contract ($14 million/3 years) and retire at 28. I don't think it matters if Jeremy Hill begins his NFL career at 21 or 22. The only reason a player should ever go to the NFL is if he has reached his ceiling or the risk of injury. But now that they are selling insurance policies to address the injuries.

Some guy on another site a couple days ago was talking about his parents want him to get his degree, so I'm guessing that might be part of the reason too if not the main one.

Addai didn't really blow up until his senior season, and even still I don't think many knew what kind of pro career he had ahead of him. He never did eclipse 1000 yards during a college season.

he owes it to himself to do the right thing by honoring the committment and perseverance that LSU and the state of Louisiana have shown in him. if he stays it will show the many who helped him become a man that their efforts were not lost on one who only thinks of himself.

You should've stopped right there. A lot of Louisiana retards wanted him gone at a single thrown punch. The dude owes it to the staff for putting up with him (for a second time), his folks for having to hear about this stuff, and himself for being provoked on camera.

What he did is little shite to me, but in today's world of blown out of proportion, lazy reporting, guilty until proven inncocent, and socially connected media crap, you can't do what's been going on forever at universities without being treated like you're a horrible person.

It's his choice. And it benefits us. Nobody is forcing him to stay yet he's doing us a favor. Idk why so many fans make an issue out of this.

See I don't think so. It's gonna be good...real good...but eventually Jennings is gonna have to pass and pass well. If Collins and Turner return, the odds are better for it but with 8 men in the box, you can have 4 stud RB's and it ain't gonna matter....without a QB who can make them pay for said box stackage.

Just because they go for 3000 doesn't mean they can't throw for 2500. In 2013, we totaled 3200+ in passing and 2600+ in rushing for 5800 yards. The inverse of that his very doable with Cam for the QB and our ridiculous RB core.

Keep going or can you? Like i said, most leave as soon as they can, especially the past few years.

That's a frickin lie moron. Six could've gone in 2011 but stayed and that's just the ones that would have gotten drafted. Barrow could've left last year, and Loston. Four years is four years no matter how you slice it.

I hope that having such great players who are willing to forgo millions in the NFL debunks the notion that the LSU staff--Miles specifically-are idiots and bad coaches. If such players feel like they have a shot at a national championship yearly (and such players as LF jumping on board), then clearly the coaching stuff must be doing something right and instilling a champion's attitude and faith in the players.

How long have you had this one in the chamber? You've probably been sitting there waiting for this announcement, just to pull this out haven't you?
