I really believe if Keiland starts in 2007 this is not even a debate.

I'd be surprised if Keiland gets more than 95 yards in his NFL career. I think it's more likely he never gets a carry. I can't see him playing special teams, so I don't think he'd be valuable to keep as a 3rd string TB. He's got bad vision and makes indecisive cuts. The only advantage he really had was speed, and now that's not there anymore.

And nobody hates Keiland. Just the Keiland lovers who refuse to take his cock out of their mouths and continue to disparage our other RBs at his expense. And the ones who perpetrate this retarded myth that Les was unfair to him or didn't play him....."just because." By all accounts, he's a great dude. Why the frick wouldn't Les play him if he's so great?

Hester was hurt and got way too many carries against Kentucky that year. That point has been conceded. To continue to bring it up like some sort of trump card that wins the argument is weak sauce. And beneath you, quite frankly.

Clerk, give me your consipracy theory on why Hester got more carries. What was Miles' motivation?

Same reason Rueben Randle only had like 10 catches this year and Russell Shepard got like 2 touches a game.

I really can't explain it.

Dude, Randall played a shite-ton last year. The reason he didn't get more catches was because our passing game was garbage, not some sort of Miles anti-bias.

Russell Shepard got like 2 touches a game.

I agree he should have gotten the ball more, but honestly he had no position. He wasn't a QB, WR, or TB. Again, he should have gotten more touches, but it wasn't that simple.

But give it a shot. Are you saying that Crowton, Porter, and McCarthy were pushing to get these guys more involved, but Miles over-rode them and just said "frick no, frick those fricking freshman"?

Not reading this whole thread. Just sayin' that Jacob Hester is one of the all-time best at LSU. Leadership, integrity, work ethic, team player, skills, heart. He had it all.

No, it's not Miles overruling them it's just a total clusterfrick on the part of ALL of the offensive coaches I'd say. In 2007 we were able to overcome it, but the past two years we haven't been so fortunate.

I wasn't meaning it as a Trump card in the KW-JH debate, but as a response to an equally silly comment about what would UF fans say. Hester was beastly in the UF game, but not so much against UK. The frustration some of us felt was not at Hester, but the coaches. Hester they rode no matter how he was playing, but when KW was playing well, he would not get more chances.

As I mentioned earlier, I certainly do not hate Hester, but I thought at the time KW was the more talented back and at the very least deserved more carries than he (Williams) got.

There are some valid reasons, such as helping a 1st year starter at QB with calling blocking assignments and adjusting to defenses, for Hester being on the field as much as he was. Frankly, I see a lot more hate directed at KW by the Hester knob slobbers, than the other way around. Both were good players than helped LSU win a NC and should be appreciated by all LSU fans.

My bad, I didn't read the context

I did, too, for a while. There are plenty of posts of mine you could dig up before and during '07 wanting Keiland to start over Hester. But like most reasonable people when presented with more evidence, I adjusted my opinion, and even changed my mind. There's more to talent than just running fast. I think Hester was more decisive, had better vision, made better cuts, and was overall just more dependable.

I dispute the notion that anybody deserves anything other than Miles and staff's best efforts to win each game.

I agree, and think that Keiland should have gotten more carries to spell Hester in '07 and Charles in '08 and '09. But only to the end that it would make LSU a better football team, not because he "deserved" it.

quote:

Frankly, I see a lot more hate directed at KW by the Hester knob slobbers, than the other way around.

I'm not sure I agree with that, but both factions of knob slobbers piss me off. Any group that without any sort of logical reasoning becomes an extreme lover or hater of a player or coach pisses me off. But it's always been more about the line of thought with me than the actual position.

I am somewhat ashamed that when I strongly play devil's advocate to discount somebody's reasoning, I often come across as disparaging--or even "hating"--a player. But that is almost never the case. And when I do, I usually try to take the other side eventually. It's why my Flynn/Russell and JJ/Lee positions are all over the place.

Miles didn't trust KW? They were pissed when he'd take one to the house?

They probably didn't want a backup fullback/special teamer with their 3rd pick either.

Any time you get a ST player with two TD's, including a blocked punt on the year, and he doesn't have KR as his label, I would say it's worth a 3rd round pick.

I don't see him falling off any at all in his ST play.

I still think it's really funny/sad that he got 7 total carries in that virginia tech game in 2007

I agree.

Is there some kind of trend in running backs under Miles?

One good year, then the rest, not so much.
