This morning on ESPN radio on the "Mike & Mike Show" Herbie came on to talk about this weekends match-up of Clemson at Louisville. He said "Last's years game came down to the last possession. There is a lot of hype building up for this game. Obviously Louisville has Lamar Jackson and Clemson has a strong defense so I expect a good game. Looking back at the last 3 years of College Football, I think Brent Venables (Clemson DC) is the best DC in the country..."

Obvious Herbie didn't compare the stats from the Louisville/Clemson game last year and Louisville/LSU bowl game.

That or he simply dosen't watch LSU games. I find it harder and harder to take anything he says seriously anymore. Obviously just blowing hot air up peoples arse.

Aranda > errbody else.

Let the "ESPN hates LSU" comments commence.

SHHH! Lets keep Dave Aranda's name out of the spotlight. The longer people know less about him the longer we can keep him in Baton Rouge

Who cares? Venables has done a remarkable job at Clemson and is fresh off a title

I think Aranda is just as good, but it's his second year and his stock is still rising

No matter what any analyst says, hes done well and will continue to do great at LSU.

Venables though has more skins on the wall. Aranda just has to continue to lead great units, and he'll be just fine as far as being noticed by those who think about great DCs in the game.

Everyone knows Aranda is the best. He won't get the credit he's due until we beat the big teams like Venables has done.

Im high on aranda and his defense, although we beat Louisville and Lamar Jackson, who has LSU beat with a big name since Aranda has been here?

Clemsons been to the ship 2 times in the past two years and won one. So he's going to get a lot of credit from the critiques, especially after beating Ohio State and Alabama in consecutive weeks.

If he stays another year and we get to that level of SEC championships, CFP and beat the top teams in the nation he'll get his consideration. However, you all know who is the best. We have the best DC in all of college football imo.

I'll bet the farm Brett Venables (props to DA) is watching and dissecting the tape from LSU/LOU last year. CU has the ATH's to run something similar and shut down Jackson.
DA never stops, never stops coaching and adjusting. We have seen in a few games nice opening drives by the opposition, and then little to nothing thereafter. The guy never stops COACHING.
In DA we Trust!

If you're a serious follower of college football you may well know as much about the game, the teams and the players as any analyst on ESPN.

They're just talking to earn a paycheck.

Guys like Venables and Don Brown have been in the game for decades and have trotted out consistent dominate defenses. Aranda will get his time.

I ask you guys to take a step back, look at this objectively, and look at the body of work. (I know this 100% isn't happening on this board)

Agreed that Aranda is the best but Venables is still a very good DC and he gets more attention because Clemson is a top 5 program at the moment.

Aranda will get the attention if LSU keeps winning. And LSU needs to do whatever it takes to keep him here!

I guess Herbie hates LSU too like the rest of the college football world does.

How many of Venables' full games have you watched?

Aranda is the man. But he was breaking down the Clemson Louisville game and was commenting on their very good DC.

He'll have plenty of positives to say about Aranda once we finally start playing real games in a month.

While watching NFL games this weekend, and the pathetic attempt at defenses I saw, I kept wondering how long will it be before Aranda is coaching in the NFL. It got me sad.

So LSU lost to Alabama because we held them to 10 points?

Ranked teams:
Ole Miss
Texas A&M
Louisville

Lost to Florida because we could not score from the 1

Lost to Bama because we could not score period

That is because you love LSU.

Beat Alabama, Ole Miss and Arkansas coupled win a playoff game and 'Herbie; will return to Baton Rouge.

I hope everybody thinks Aranda sucks. That means he won't get poached from LSU in the near future. Some of you people are retarded. Have a downvote.

The tiny-dick syndrome so many LSU fans have continues to astound--and embarrass--me. Though it shouldn't at this point.
