Amen to that one Apex..... just had this convo yesterday with some of my colleagues. It's alarming at what potentially could be running our country in the next few years...pretty scary thought!

One of the few good memories I have of the Dinardo years.

Herb Tyler is a Tiger Great. We had an incredible offense in 1998 with him at the helm as quarterback. Had we had a decent defensive coordinator that year, we would have been a force that year. Damn Lou Tepper!

He had long TD runs in 2 straight games in Death Valley:
Florida 1997: 40 yard run early in the game - started us off to a 14-0 first quarter lead - the crowd was insane.

Ole Miss 1997, the following week. Herb had like a 75 yard run before halftime that gave us a 21-14 halftime lead (though we lost 36-21)
This game started the demise of Dinardo.

Both were scintillating.

Herb Tyler was one tough SOB.

And just as importantly represented LSU with class and dignity.

He definitely should be recognized as an all-time great Tiger.

And yes I agree about the Tepper D letting him down time after time after time. But you never heard him complain, he just went back out and gave more.

I remember watching some sports show (may have been college game day) when he was our QB, they did a special on him. All I can remember is them talking about his really long finger nails and how he knew when he threw a good pass b/c his nails would "click" a certain way on the ball. LOL

As weird as I found that, I still remember him as one of my favorite players to watch in Tiger Stadium...That whole generation was a great team to watch.

That's why I love the guy. He was a great kid who gave everything he had. He never lost the game, but he put his teammates in position to win it. And he had class.

"He never lost the game, but he put his teammates in position to win it. And he had class."

Wrong. Late 4th quarter against Auburn in 97, he had a roll-out pass/run option on 3rd down. Dinardo told him no matter what don't throw it. He throws it, incomplete and clock stops. We punt, and D. Craig marches the team down the field for the winning TD. We won 10 games that year but that game cost us the West. I am a big Herb fan FWIW. Just clarifying the above statement. Funny thing is that is the only boneheaded play that I can remember from a player who started as a freshman.

A buddy of mine that went to OP Walker with Herb and is also close to his family said that Herb is in construction in the NOLA area.

I heard the interview too. He just called into the show as a regular caller. He was Herb from NO or something. He started talking about recruiting and said something like he is familiar with the process b/c he was the starting QB for LSU for a few years.

Bobby and Deke went silent for a sec and finally I think Bobby said something like wait is this Herb Tyler. It was kind of funny. He also said something like he thought his son might be a national recruit in a few years (I think he is in 6th grade).

I listen to 870/105.3 wwl a lot and Tyrone Hughes calls in quite a bit. I don't think any of the hosts, other than maybe Bobby or Deke knew that he was a former saints player. It is good to see that they are just like you and me and concerned about what happens. I think most professional athletes think that way, but you just don't hear it that much.
