this is not meant to 'bash' jamarcus, one of my favorite tigers, but he wasn't the greatest QB ever to play at LSU.

Not to bash Flynn either, but he made just as many poor plays in our 2 losses last year. Probably more. And Florida and Auburn '06 were MUCH better than Arkansas and Kentucky '07. And both were on the road.

The Tiger's starting QB obviously has not be chosen, but when you are an ESPN sports writer on vacation and can't research a story, just read between the lines and make up anything you like.

The only thing holding Lee back is his presence in the pocket and in the hudle.

what about reading defenses and just generally processing information on the field?

lee looks pretty crappy at these things

Well what was the problem? He is the most athletically gifted, "he is the smartest", he had three veteran WRs that are now in the NFL, and a more experienced OL, yet he never won a championship of any kind. In addition the team was healthy. We had very few injuries during his two years of starting.
Flynn still matched his best season with only one opportunity. Flynn had one experienced WR, the right side of the OL had not played that position since HS, and according to you Hester was one of the least talented running backs on the team.
It's confusing how you cling to your assertions yet the facts don't confirm your opinion.

I think that Hatch was the more complete quarterback in the spring game. He looked more confident than Lee. I'm not saying I definetly would prefer Hatch over Lee, but I wouldn't be worried if Miles did start Hatch under center.

Every single QB in LSU history that played at least a season made poor plays in LSU losses. There is no such thing as a perfect player. Very few made fewer than JaMarcus Russell did, and none of those few made the plays that he made to help us win.

It's like you guys watch a completely different TV then I do.
Actually, it's just that they've been watching ESPN for more than 1 year.

And LSU did not get "all the love" last year. When we were 2-0, having destroyed an SEC bowl team 45-0 on the road and a top 10 OOC opponent 48-7 at home, and SC had played all of one game where they beat Idaho by 28 points at home, Kirk Herbstreit -- while broadcasting our destruction of Va. Tech -- was falling all over himself to make sure everyone remembered that SC was better than LSU. It was not until later that week, when ESPN realized how popular the Va. Tech win had made us, that ESPN jumped on the LSU bandwagon. Since then, it has been pretty good (though their offseason coverage has not shown as much interest as their coverage during the last half of last season).

I'm 99.9% sure we will NEVER hear that comment from ESPN.
In those exact words, probably not. But I'd bet good money that if Hatch starts more than two SEC games you will hear at least once from an announcer that he is having trouble because the game is so much different than what he saw at Harvard. If those games are on ESPN, then it will be an ESPN announcer making those comments.

per ESPN....

This is shorthand for the following: "all that precedes this is complete bullshite that has not been researched and has no more chance of being true than any other random thing we could have made up and written instead".

So...

quote:

Hatch most likely to start at QB per ESPN....

...means nothing. If anything, ESPN's saying it makes me less likely to believe it than I would have been if they hadn't said anything.
