Seeing these rankings absolutely makes me think so.

We've never gotten the respect an Ohio State or Alabama would get even if we had the same record against similar competition. For example; not even looking at the fact that we're 1 spot ahead of a terrible Tennessee team that just lost to Vandy. Or Auburn dropping only a couple spots after getting beat convincingly by Alabama.

We dropped 11 spots despite keeping it very close until late in the 4th quarter. Michigan and Clemson both lost to unranked teams this year and stayed in the top 5 the week after.

We lost 4 games and by no means should be in the playoffs but just feels like LSU has become looked at as a Michigan State, Penn State, or VATech type of program. Basically, we're capable of being a contender but we won't get the benefit of the doubt the way other programs do

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here but it doesn't seem that LSU is respected on a national level.

ETA: I understand that a significant portion of our fan base has difficulty reading, so let me say that this is in no way, shape, or form related to our recent coaching hire. I'm simply asking if LSU's brand seems to have lost respect with the media post 2011

The media is focused on the chaos surrounding the program and discounting the ability of LSU to field a competitive program. Jmho

Silver lining; Auburn going to the Sugar means more revenue generation in hotels, car rentals, plane tickets...etc

This shouldn't be unfamiliar to you remember how USC split the national title with us in the 2003 season for no particular reason but the AP felt like it?

This place is getting ridiculous. Most of the media praised the hire.

Yes. Last years coaching debacle hurt.

It is pretty crazy that a team who lost to Air Force and USF is ahead of us.

Well losing 4 games tends to do that. Win get respect lose and be thought of as mediocre. You are what your record shows you to be. It's not because of who is coaching.

Also watching season after season of les' stale 1960's offense and then when the two big games in November came around LSU only scored 10 points between the two. Not very attractive and until they turn things around will never get the respect as other teams mentioned.

We were considered a playoff team earlier so I'd say no.

Now having fans slobbering over pos like kiffen and briles is hurting the image of the fan base ,but that image has always been bad...

People in the media almost always pick us for the playoff or to be a top team every preseason despite always mentioning our offensive woes. They are tired of the same old shite from us...great defense and no offense. CLM said he was going to change and the media probably fell for it also and then that smug jackass fricked us over. I think the media holds us to a higher standard and punishes us more for losing.

Hey chunky lover... do your fricking homework on Navy.

1) Not easy playing at altitude.

2) Close loss to USF on a Friday night

3) Both losses on the road

4) Won division. Hosting CCG.

5) AVERAGED 52.5 pts for NOV

6) Punted twice...in NOV

7) Has outside shot at Cotton Bowl

8) Does not have fricking buffoon as ex-coach or current coach

9) Has excellent AD

10) Did not lose to two TD dog at home with Sugar Bowl on the line

All that said...yeah, LSU would beat Navy....wow. Congrats.
