How do you post on the rant and not know if LSU has ever had a black head football coach?

Not to mention all of the hooplah that was made over Miss St. hiring Croom a few years back as the first black head coach in the SEC.

Mississippi State hired Sylvester Croom. I think you'll have to have successful black candidates before you start seeing big programs hire black coaches. So far, there haven't been many candidates.

OP is just pathetically trying to incite racist rhetoric.

Didn't MLK want a world where color didn't matter? If so then why is it always about color? What does a mans skin color have to do with his ability to coach? If you look at the number of black assistants it is clear that there are plenty of candidates out there. Just none anyone wants as their head coach. That's not racist. It just means they need more experience. To interview or give away a job simply based on skin color is the most racist thing you could do.

I believe Robiskie got an interview.

Outside of Ty Willingham and Randy Shanahan (sp?), what other black coach was hired to a big time program football program?

Sylvestor Croom-Miss. St. and the (sp?) is Randy Shannon.

To be honest, I don't think a white candidate would even give serious consideration to go coach at an all black school in the South.

Place yourself in that position....Would you?

I seriously doubt Southern would give a white guy a chance. They are a racist institution in a racist conference.

Who else you got?
Kevin Sumlin. Though you can argue over how much credit goes to Art Briles at Houston.

Randy Shannon would probably be a good candidate as well.

I'm not saying either are the BEST candidates, but they would be good candidates for a mythical LSU job opening.

Why hasn't a woman been the head football coach at LSU? I'm sure there are qualified women coaches.

And the fact that you're saying that just because a person is "black" should make them deserving of getting the head coaching job at LSU or any other elite program is racist in itself.

If these coaches have success, look for bigger schools to hire them. Plain and simple

Miles didn't do much before becoming LSU's head coach. So, what did LSU based their decision on for hiring him. It surely wasn't his W/L % b/c OSU was just a mediocre squad while he was there.

LSU probably didn't wanna put themselves in the position Notre Dame and Miss St. were in. The schools get alot of criticism when they have to fire a black coach, so they try not to even hire one because of the potential future backlash. Also, LSU isn't going to hire many assistant coaches to be head coaches. Its going to take a proven guy at a smaller program. There aren't that many of those out there. Nice race baiting thread

LSU interviewed Bobby Williams for the head coaching job in '05. Whether that was a serious interview is another matter. Seems to have been more the courtesy interview ala Slocum, or a Rooney rule type thing, even though there is no Rooney rule in college football. A gesture.
