Aren't you the same guy that started a thread complaining about the amount of Latino people in San Antonio (which is only 150 miles from the border of Mexico)?

If so I see a trend here......

Hes from Hammond, its only natural he'd ask these type of questions. If you've been there, you'd know what I'm talking about.

Or better yet to go along with this guy's point, how about we interview Herm Edwards, Denny Green, and Tony Dungy along with JDR and John Gruden so it doesn't look like we're discriminating against anyone.

I wasn't complaining about the Latino's specifically, my complaint was that I damn near needed to know Spanish to communicate in an American city.....

but that's off topic.....stay on the topic please

Has LSU ever had a black coach or even a black candidate in which they seriously considered for a football head coaching job?

Nick Saban used to sometimes dress like a pimp. Does this count?

We should probably wait to see how he does at Louisville first.

If people want to clamor for a pie in the sky coach that will never even consider the job, like Gruden, we could always offer Tony Dungy and have him turn us down.

Name a qualified black Head Coach that LSU can go after? AND NO an assistant coach is NOT qualified.

LSU should never have to hire from the ranks of assistants let other schools do that.

Plus there is the FACT that you have a shite storm should this black coach not pan out like ND with Ty Willingham. If you hire a black coach you better well hope he will retire with you and win championships because if you are wrong about that coach (EVEN THOUGH YOU CHOSE TO HIRE A BLACK COACH IN THE FIRST PLACE) you will be labled racist when you fire him because he wasnt very good.

Louisville isn't LSU. They have 3rd teir talent and facilities. He'll be successful if he just get that program to a bowl game consistently That's doesn't mean he's not a great coach though.

That was a question that was valid 50 years ago. Do you really think that if Tony Dungy had applied for the job that he wouldn't have gotten it because of the color of his skin? This is the new South man...give me a break!

He's now a head coach at a BCS conference school. He has a chance to succeed. If he doesn't, LSU would be dumb to hire him, even if we have more resources.

Come up with someone other than Strong that LSU should consider.

How do you post on the rant and not know if LSU has ever had a black head football coach?

I mean there have only been like 7 LSU coaches since the early 60's, its not like it would be easy for there to be a head coach at LSU that you never heard of.

I always suspected Nick Saban was half and half.

Not a dumb question. Really makes you look @ the state of college football & LSU. If the NFL can find coaches like Mike Tomlin & Tony Dungy whats keeping the SEC from following suit? College football cant be proud of the atmosphere it has created.

So you are saying he has less of a chance than Bobby Petrino did?

So he should be able to go 9-4,11-1,9-3,12-1 easily then since Bobby did it.

Agreed. I wouldn't say he is LSU head coach qualified just yet. Same for Turner Gill at Kansas.

Dungy would fit the bill, but he was busy in 2005 when we last hired a coach. Denny Green was also coaching in the NFL in 2005.

Who else you got?

Exactly, my point in all of this is when it comes to prestige jobs like LSU black coaches pretty much are not given a fair shot really to fill these positions and are still vastly underrepresented in college football.

Outside of Ty Willingham and Randy Shanahan (sp?), what other black coach was hired to a big time program football program?
