Tcu is a marquee season opening matchup, although not as strong as Oregon. Arkansas won't be ranked third. Texas a&m has emerged as a contender however, UF has definately improved, and we travel to uga to face a high powered offense like WVU had.

GOtC in T-town.

Tough call. Honestly the point of this thread was to say that if our offense clicks, we'll smash through this schedule just like two years ago.

Les has em right where he wants em. Everyone is disrespecting this team that returns a senior qb and the baddest running game in college football.

Who is disrespecting LSU? All I've heard is that they are young and very talented.

SEC was really weak in 2011. Auburn was a joke, Florida was a joke, Kentucky was a joke.

Arkansas was a product of that weak year.

2013 is much harder

Probably 2013. OOC schedule is easier, but the SEC schedule is harder

I honestly think this year is harder. That's not to take anything away from the 2011 schedule, though. That was a brutal schedule as well.

We are ranked in the teens. All because of the schedule. The players are eating it up.

Arkansas was really good on a national level compared to everyone but LSU and Bama that year.

2011 was definitely harder.

aTm is going to flop this year, I can almost guarantee it. Even if Manziel gets to play, he's a media circus and a distraction to his team.

And I like what Muschamp has done with Florida, but I think they resemble LSU 2010, where they can be an imposing team, but they're a step under the conference heavyweights... then again, you see how we followed that year in 2011, so who knows?

But we had a frickin gauntlet en route to the NC

2013. Bama was the only competitive game we had in 2011

Being ranked outside of the top 10 behind 5 other SEC teams is making the fans feel disrespected.

The truth is that LSU ended the season on a down note, lost most of the starters on defense, and has a quarterback that has been perceived as underwhelming.

I say who the hell cares at this point. Put up or shut up.

I have to give the slight edge to 2011 right now, considering we played WVU on the road and they ended up winning the Big East. Also considering that Oregon won the Pac 12 that year as well.

Also, on paper, we played the previous three National Champions that year (even though AU and UF sucked).

Eta: I suppose we play the previous 5 national champions this year

Why? Who is going to challenge us other than Bama if Manziel flops and uga turns out to have big problems on defense?

I think it will be comparable. You can say that teams were weak in 2011, but hindsight is 20/20. There will be surprises and disappointments this season as there are every season.

2011

#3 Oregon
#2 Bama
#3 Arky
#10ish WVU
#20ish UF

UGA/Bama (SECCG and Bowl)

Toughest schedule probably ever. (Seriously, Playing 5 top five teams in one season and finishing 4-1 is pretty good)
